Corch Irving Meyers has some words for Tom Herman and Will Muschamp

"Don't blame the players."

Meyer pointed to a statement made Saturday by Herman (his former offensive coordinator at Ohio State) not being able to "sprinkle fairy dust" on the Longhorns team he inherited from Charlie Strong (Meyer's former defensive coordinator at Florida) following a loss to Maryland.
Meyer also said Muschamp "blamed us for Florida," referring to a perceived lack of talent left for Muschamp when Meyer departed before the 2011 season. "C'mon man. I don't know where that came from," Meyer told CBS Sports. "It's like a new generation of excuse. [Herman] said, 'I can't rub pixie dust on this thing.' He got a dose of reality. Maryland just scored 51 points on you."
quote:
Meyer saw 14 of his recruits selected in the three drafts after his departure following the 2010 season. "You had Jeff Driskel, Chris Rainey, Jeff Demps, that whole defense got drafted," Meyer pointed out.

Interesting that he'd take a shot at Herman like that.
I could understand Muschamp since he followed Meyer at Florida, but Herman coached under him. Wonder if there's a bit of bad blood there.
Yeah, that's the epitome of hypocrisy.

Damn. That quote by Herman is pretty benign, their relationship must not be great.

He recruits TX pretty hard and I'm sure will/is going up against Herman in recruiting battles. A not so subtle dig at Herman's character and coaching ability

Herman has been taking shots across the bow for a few months for recruiting purposes. He put a screenshot of weather in March saying something like "can't believe i was living in this just 3 years ago" or something. he also put up Zeke Elliott and Braxton Miller on a Texas recruiting poster, saying they had been developed by their coaches.

I'm not sure about how other schools/coaches deal with the second, but the first is an absolute shot to stop losing kids who want to leave Texas

But you left because Saban kicked your arse a combined 63-19 in 2009 and 2010. Once Tebow left, you could see that winning at Florida wasn't going to be near as easy.
I really don't like Harbaugh but I'm hoping he starts beating Urbs just to see how long it takes for Irving to end up in the ER with chest pains.

all i heard was how much talent charlie strong left behind for the next coach...he had baked the cake. is this no longer the case or is herman being exposed?

There must be. Odd to go out of his way like that to comment on a team they don't play in a conference they're not in. It's what worried me about Herman coming to LSU--he seems like an a-hole. That can work for guys like Saban who have the skins on the wall to justify it, but I wonder what kind of assistants are gonna want to go work for Herman. The staff he has assembled at Texas is not all that impressive. And it's somewhat telling that Dave Aranda--who has a relationship with Herman--chose to stay in Baton Rouge and work under Ed Orgeron than go to Austin and work under Herman.

Are we never going to stop this? What if Meyer beats Saban the next time they play? He would have a winning record over one of the best coaches of all time.
You are aware he beat Saban the last time they played right?

Yes I am. I'm also aware that when Urban brought Florida into Tuscaloosa in 2010 he lost 31-6. When he brought Florida into Tuscaloosa in 2005, he lost 31-3. 2009 was his last chance with Tebow and Alabama dismantled them by 19. 2011, that talented Florida defense he's bragging about gave up 38 to Alabama and lost by four touchdowns. I'm aware this was Boom's first year but Urban had his reasons for leaving aside from the excuse of "more time with my family."
Urban knew the road to the title was much easier at Ohio State. So heart pains, a year at ESPN and he's the head coach at OSU.

"You didn't choose me, I chose you. You're mine, absolutely. I love you, and I'm going to kick the shite out of you, and we're going to do it right …
He is dead on balls accurate here. This should be the motto when a new coach comes in. Herman is making a mistake if he starts to blame the players and former coaches.

Makes sense. That seems like typical recruiting stuff though, I'd imagine more had to happen between the two for Urban to grandstand like this.

Weird thing to do. But yet its also screams UT

You know those players and coaches that you look at and say to yourself, "I wouldn't mind hanging out with them. Maybe have a beer together."? Well CUM is not one of those guys.
