Yes

Meh, girls are just as good at getting position as boys, and these college girls are just as big as most high schoolers and have been playing longer. I actually give the girls the advantage

MUCH better defenders.

I disagree again, obviously when you factor in the already mentioned speed the boys can certainly move quicker on D, but girls can play defense just as well as boys other than speed

quote:

free throws the girls could be better.

I guess it would depend on the ball they use

quote:

the girls would not be able to advance the ball against a press in time to beat the clock,

This is just flat wrong, they do make less crisp passes and are slower to the ball, but beating a press is a lot about spacing and decision making. I bet the elite 8 girls would shred most high school presses.
quote:

and they would not get any rebounds except for long bounces and the odd carom.

I don't know why you think this, but it's wrong.

The boys would win though, on speed of game alone

i played against some good/solid, active LSU female players as a 24 year old, 6-1, OK shape at best, guy who never played at high school

the differences between my peers from my weekly game and the active collegiate players was eye opening.

and guys like voogd and male walkon players would play against us on occasion and DOMINATE.

whoa. whoa.

speed and quickness

and that's like saying the sprinter was just as good as the other, other than speed

Well he used speed as its own variable, and it's why the boys would win. The boys do EVERYTHING quicker and faster which is the difference in the two sports. But when it come to straight up defensive positioning or rebounding the boys aren't any better

I think any male middle school team that isn't fricking garbage can beat a woman's elite 8. Why is this being discussed for the 10,000th time?

A top 28 team would steamroll any of those girls squads. Can't believe people think otherwise

Nobody is even mentioning the size/strength advantage for the boy's. This season's UCONN team only has two girls 6'4 or taller. Over half the team is under 6'0. I would bet none of the girls are over 160lbs (they don't list girl's weights). A top HS is going to be much bigger and way stronger..

Most larger division public school teams that win a state title would destroy a women's elite 8 team. I don't care if the women's team has a height advantage.

An ex-girlfriend of mine was almost offered by an upper tier D1 school(15 NCAA tourneys in the last 18 years) as a PG. She was passed over because she was too short(5'0). Turned down other schools because that was still her dream school.

On the flip side I was a decent to good highschool player, but not great by any means. I might have been able to walk on at a school like Alcorn St, Liberty, or Marist.

We would play 1v1 sometimes, and I could dominate her at any phase of the game.

I've also played against guys who were McDonald's All-Americans. They made me look like a bowl of warm jello on the court.

Haha people are crazy to think a girls team could hang with an average HS team at that.
The boys team could name the score. It's not even close.

i mean seriously. if the HS has a 6-6 center who is an average male athlete, the women would be completely fricked

I'll tell you this... in high school we scrimmaged the girls team. Both us and the girls team won district and went to the playoffs. We won state. They had players play in college, and so did we.

Here's what happened in the scrimmage.

We won 80-something to 0. And we only played for maybe a half of basketball, if that. I don't remember, but it wasn't close to a full game.

We pressed the entire time and they only made it past half-court maybe 7 or 8 times. They only got 2 shots off the entire time we played. One was blocked, and one was just a desperate heave of the ball that was taken because she was flustered by the pressure defense.

It was literally steal after steal after steal.

They could not compete with the sheer athletic advantage we had over them.

We would swallow them up in traps and rip the ball away from them.

They even had a ton of trouble getting enough space to even get the ball inbounded.

This thread is so much bs lol

When I played hs ball our girls team had a girl that could start at the 2 for the boys. She was about 5'9 could handle the rock, was strong for a Woman could slap the backboard which was about what I could do lol and call uld pull up and shoot from anywhere and we lost in the 5a champ our senior year

They played right before us every game and we would stay out ad long SD we could before getting dressed to see what she was gonna do. It was nothing for her to go for 35 and 10 boards. She went for 60 one game. She practiced with us most of the time and could hold her on.

Freaking drugs got her and she didn't have grades but she was a baller

There's a huge difference between your high school's girls Bball team and an elite 8 college team. I don't think the girls would win, but the pressure D wouldn't be the reason

The HS boys for any 4A/5A school would embarrass them. The lower divisions would win as well without much of a problem.

Friend of mine's sister was a starting point guard for a D-1 mid-major. I was a 2A player in Louisiana who was average at best and not even close to a college level talent. We played 1v1 to 25, and I beat her 25-4. I am aggressively mediocre at basketball and she was a D-1 talent, and the athletic difference made the game a joke in my favor.

I realize the example is completely anecdotal and not an apples to apples comparison, but the athletic disparity is absurd.

But, but, in the one sport where strength, quickness and coordination are at a premium (fighting) Rhonda Rousey can kill a 200+ pound male.

Training. A female player could beat a fantastic athlete who had never been on a basketball court before. Rousey would beat the average man because of her training, and being accustomed to fighting in general. If nothing else, when fighting as the smaller opponent you have ways to counter raw power which doesnt have skilled guidance.

In this argument you are talking about skilled athletes vs skilled athletes. The one who win are the ones who are faster, bigger, stronger...

Your team was in the 5a state championship game and you could only jump high enough to slap the backboard?
