What's the benefit of podcast app's? I have friends who swear by them, but what do they do? I subscribe to the app's I like, and they just download right to my podcast thing on my iphone. What does the app do for me that's better than just the normal iphone setup?

Not being snarky, truly curious.

The Solid Verbal is trash imo

How so? They balance between talking about CFB and talking about everyday life. During the offseason you can't really talk about the in's/out's of college football on every episode.

100% agree.

I also think producing a free-form, flowing podcast that sounds like a casual conversation is underratedly difficult. There's a reason Simmons and his network are so successful. It's more difficult than it would sound.

The Audible, for example, often has much more substance than the Solid Verbal, but dammit it can be so dry sometimes.

Dan and Ty could get old if I heard them every day but for an hour a week? I love em.

Dan is unbearable

He's hit or miss. I get tired of some of his hot takes on food.

Shutdown Fullcast is by far my favorite. It matches my attitude towards CFB perfectly; if you take CFB too seriously and your takes are bad, then SF probably isn't for you. If you like your CFB a tad bit more serious and with numbers/advanced stats, then Podcast Ain't Played Nobody will probably work for you. The Audible is okay...I like Bruce Feldman, but it's a bit stiff. The Solid Verbal sucks arse. Dan Rubenstein sounds like a smug piece of shite, and I'm not convinced that Ty Hildenbrandt is a real person. His taste in all things in life is trash.

I don't get the hate for Ty and Dan. Sure they are a bit biased and talk about their respective teams. But they also have good guest and engage their listeners.
