Games I care about:

Michigan @ Utah
North Carolina @ South Carolina
Duke @ Tulane

-I think this is gonna be a really good game. I'd be really impressed if Michigan comes out with a W. Utah is a tough place to play. Gonna be a tough start for the Harbaugh regime.

-Obvious must-win for SC.

-Hoping Tulane can pull out a W against Duke at home. 17 returning starters for the Wave. Should be a decent crowd tonight in Nola. Interesting note: Duke was -11 two weeks ago, line is now -7.

They've come off an awful season and don't want to start 1-2 or potentially 0-3.

Overall record will be more important for South Carolina this year as they're not a division threat IMO.

I agree with your reasoning, here but could not care less if SC and Spurrier falls on his face.

Why leave out TCU @ Minn.

Supposedly these are the Big10 best defensive backfield.
A team and coach that is on the rise up north.
A game with a chance for vengeance from last year played on Minn home turf.
Possibly an overconfident TCU team with the leader of the week one Heisman predictions at the helm.
a much touted belief that TCU's offense will not have the same power as it did last year when fresh and new as teams have film to study now.
Some as of yet unanswered questions about new starters on the TCU D.

FWIW I have TCU by 21 or more.

I agree with what the OP said, but I am also interested in TCU vs. Minnesota tonight. TCU will win this game, but Minnesota will play a really close game until the 4th quarter and start to pull away. This is TCU's highest ranking in many many years, and I want to see if they are for real. It's a new season so you never know.

It'll be an interesting game.

On one side, I can see Minnesota playing this game close into the second half. Minnesota has two CBs that are likely the best the B1G has to offer. These two, according to Jerry Kill, have the ability to play press-coverage and allow the front seven to throw different blitz packages at the offense. That being said, it's probably just coach-speak. In any case, Trevone Boykin does not complete a high-percentage of his passes, so these two might cause him some difficulty (at least early on).

On the other side, I can see TCU gradually pulling away from Minnesota after halftime to a comfortable victory. There isn't a lot of talk about Minnesota's offense versus TCU's defense. The Gophers lost their only offensive production from a year ago and Mitch Leidner has not shown he has the ability to beat quality teams with his arm. I have more confidence in Gary Patterson's revamped defense showing up than I do the Minnesota offense. Additionally, J.T. Barrett ran wild on Minnesota for 189 yards and a touchdown.

I think (and hope) TCU wins this one by three touchdowns.

Problem partially solved. It was actually the cable box that's the issue and Comcast has been total shite and has given us 3 bad ones in the past 2 weeks. The espn hd channel wasn't working. It wasn't till a few minutes ago that it occurred to me. The HD channel isn't working but the standard channel is and the standard channel is in hd anyway. Back on track.

I can see Minn keeping it close and possibly making it interesting if TCU comes out not clicking

This was going to be my big underdog pick of the week but the lines shifted too much to Duke. Might still play Tulane ML but think the better value is wtih Hawaii over the Buffs now.

I'm really excited about Michigan-Utah, TCU-Minnesota (which I think will actually be a really good game) and USC-UNC.

In terms of something to pass the time if all of the above are on commercial or halftime breaks, Baylor-SMU might be a fun one.

I think Minnesota is probably the most underrated team in the country, and they were last year too. They almost won the Big 10 West, and I expect them to this year.

Given the questions TCU has, especially on defense, I'd be surprised if it isn't a lot closer than people think it will be.
