The other day he said he took over Kornheiser's spot on the radio 10 years ago. Tony has continued to do a radio show over the years. I'm confused.

If he wasn't leaving ESPN, it'd be a non-story from an ESPN PR standpoint. He's leaving, so they have no reason to stand by him.
However, it's a pretty lame thing to be excoriated for. Stephen A. Smith has essentially said on multiple occasions that female domestic abuse victims bring it on themselves (which is far worse) and they've stuck by him.

This is silly, and I think it is a petty move on the part of ESPN.
It is not an insult to Dominicans to say that they lack educational opportunities. In fact, talking about it on ESPN could be a good way to draw attention to the situation. There will probably be improvements made in education in the Dominican Republic as a result of the attention Cowherd's remarks have received.
