time to get a few things off my chest!

how about the "great" coaches decision to fake the punt at the beginning of the game!
texas qb is hurt two plays later & brings in unprepared qb and gets only 3 points
bama then does not field the ko and the "great" coach goes wild
texas gets only 3 points again - but you can see it is only a matter of time!
do i feel sorry for texas? hell no! & i was pulling for them - but this "great" coach had the hold year to prepare a backup qb & he keeps his star in games and it reaches to bite him as it did that other "great" coach at oklahoma
that "dumb" coach we have won a national championship with our second team qb playing the entire secc game for a win to get us into the mnc game when another "great" coach rich r does not have a second team qb ready against pittsburgh
since then - our 2007 championship was luck because we have two loses
and "great" saban was not lucky when he pulls the fake punt and then the texas qb is hurt
for the most part get off miles and let's see what happens next year - if he fails - then that is that - but i say and am pulling for he is here a long long time

Some say Brown out coached Saban.

Your mastery of the English language is impressive to say the least.

Optimist. On what grounds does it seem Les Miles can turn anything around? I'd really like to know.

It was the most costly coaching decision of the night, but not the worst. That honor belongs to Saban, who raised eyebrows by taking the ball to start the game instead of deferring -- then ordered up a you-cannot-be-serious fake punt on fourth-and-23 from the Alabama 20.

From ESPN re: Saban's decisions.

Texas baited them into this by leaving the gunners uncovered. When Texas dropped two inside rushers into coverage it erased the possibility for a first down and created the turnover.

Not Saban's fault.

Similar to our fake punt in 04 at ASU except that UT was ready for it.

Also, if the punter had thrown it well it would have been successful. I'm not saying you expect the punter to make a great throw, but it would have worked as designed.

Good thing for Saban is that he's built a strong enough team that it didn't matter.

You posted to me? I didn't invent the title or put it there; whoever started this thread gets that comment, so I'll pass it on.

Exactly, it is an option that Saban has installed that if the punter sees the gunners uncovered they can audible to a pass play. Unfortunately for them Texas seemed to know this too. Maybe Muschamp figured they could deke Bama into trying it.
