In 5th-8th our school played out of the wishbone and it was awesome. Lineman know what to do pretty much based on what hole you are going thru and having the extra blockers from your more athletic guys at that age is pretty helpful.

I remember us having a decent amount of plays at that time and we were always wanting to learn more. We were able to remember it with simple numbering. first number was the back that would get the ball and the second number was the hole they would go thru. Linemen knew what to do basically just based on the hole and the backs knew what to do based on who was getting the ball.

I do agree that you should spend a ton of time on technique though. I coached 5th grade basketball a few years ago and it was always about technique. We ran basically 2 different offenses depending on if the other team was in man or zone and that was it. Just put your best players in a position to make a play.

this, coaching, even at the highest levels, is all about teaching.

basics, fundamentals, safety, keep it simple

8 stunts? Dude you have gone overboard big time. You must want to win at all costs.

It is only 4 stunts. They can just go strong or weak side with it. Even in the secondary, they have 6 plays (12 total based on strong/weak side), but it is honestly only 3 plays they need to know: either come in on blitz, play your zone that your wrist band tells you to, or play man.

Not complicated at all. It gives the illusion of being complicated. That is the beauty of it.
