Why is this such a hard thing to do? Cincy had that game won but they left at least 25 seconds on the board just from snapping the ball too early and didn't feel like running the ball because reasons? Completely let UGA off the hook for calling a timeout before punting it away which was ridiculously stupid itself.

These are decisions that are obvious to make that anyone with a modicum of football IQ should be able to make with ease but over and over and over I see these highly paid coaches try to out-think themselves and cost themselves games.

Why is this such a difficult task for so many coaches?

Cincy likely wins if they just run on 3rd and 2.

Even if they don't get it.. UGA has less than a minute to work with and no TOs.

That was just retarded.

The OC needs to be demoted to assistant assistant running back coach

Yep. Run the ball three times and let the play clock go to 1 each time and they win that game.

Coaches regularly outthink themselves in late game situations. They try to get too cute. I think it’s just the nature of analyzing so many potential scenarios.

3rd and 2

That makes it even worse.

3rd and 12 I can see the case for throwing. Convert and it's game.

3rd and 2, you should be able to pick up even if the defense knows it's a run.

Generally, football coaches aren’t the most intelligent folks and it shows up on the clock management issues across the country.

I didn’t hate the play call on 3rd down. It was definitely aggressive but the narrative is quite different if they completed the pass. Right call was likely to run it and give UGA the ball with 40 seconds and no timeouts....extra 40 seconds let them drive to FG range but UGA play calling is different in that situation.

The second down play should have won it. Receiver had to wait on the ball and gave the defender time to get to him .

The early snaps were on the QB he looked rattled the second half. The third down play looked like a run pass option. The guy was open but he lobbed the pass allowing time for the Gorgias DB to get back and deflect it.

I don't know. I'll ask Coach Miles.
