I know. Right?

I didn't watch the Clemson vs W.Virginia last year. How did it get to be so out of hand?

It was a combination of things. First and foremost Clemson simply couldn't defend the edge on defense. Combine that with a talent like Tavon Austin and a play caller like Dana Holgorsen, and it was nasty. I have no doubt if Jimbo has looked at only 5 seconds of that tape that you'll see Thompson lineup in the slot some in this game and get the ball on some jet sweeps. For 4 quarters Clemson demonstrated an inability to stop it against WVU and havent played a team yet with the speed to test it so if I'm FSU I'm absolutely attacking the edges hard to start this game.

Secondly there was the huge momentum shift on the Ellington fumble. I'm sure you saw it but Clemson was on the one yard line ready to go in for the tying TD. Andre plunges into the line, all of Clemson's team is celebrating a TR and all of the sudden you see a WVU player streaking the other way with the ball. 99 yards for the TD and a 14 point shift. The team looked completely dead after that point. There were more turnovers on top of that and just general bad play, but there was no conning back from that.

I also think Morris pressed too much in that game once Clemson was down a little. Hopefully he has grown and mature because Clemson most certainly will trail at some point in this game, and if he starts trying to get it all back in 1-2 plays it could get ugly.

I would hope that Dabo has addressed the issue. But to me, that means widening out the linebackers (which opens up the inside) or walking up the safeties (which opens up the deep ball). You can try to scheme against a faster team, but if we do have that advantage, we will force you into mistakes.

What makes you think this game will be very different from W.Virginia?

We're the first team you'll face this year that has the talent to copy their gameplan?

First of all, the WVU game wasn't a lack of talent it was poor execution and scheme. You should know as well as anyone Clemson is the one team in the ACC year in and year out with enough talent and speed to more than run with FSU.

Also, you may have comparable (if not more) team speed than WVU but Dana Holgerson's receding mullet hairs could call a better game than Jimbo. The difference in offensive ability between the two schematically is dramatic.

First, obligatory:

Second, I think FSU wins, even without much of a passing game. Hopefully, Thompson's legs can open up the deep ball. Different year, different teams, BUT FSU was in that game last year with significant injuries [much thanks to Trickett] and numerous bonehead plays/ penalties. Play smart football, and I think FSU will make a statement on Saturday. Another sloppy showing by a Jimbo team, and FSU just wins.

Clemson has skill position talent for sure.
And Dana might have a better system than Jimbo, but we can copy what WVU did from a run an short pass perspective. Plus, I think we'll be able to run between the tackles.

The truth is... We haven't seen enough from either team to know what's up.
And THAT was my point to Dr 3.

Are you going to the game? I'll be there. You might see me in a garnet shirt near Dick Howser.

Well, that really narrows it down.

I'm not sure. I've got some family stuff going on this weekend. If I can't make it, I'll def be glued to the tv.

It'd be the game to go to this year. This is the first top 10 all ACC matchup in 5 years. The last one was #2 BC vs #8 VaTech in 2007. The winner of this game will moonwalk to a BCS game.

I've never had a problem finding tix to any game I've ever been to. Just bring some cash and you'll get in.

Yeah I'm not getting raped on the ticket prices, I'm just pissed I never got to see a top 10 match up while I was there

Win or lose this weekend, Clemson loses 1-2 more ACC games (GT seems like a lock for a loss) and then probably USC (although as a non-ACC game, that won't have an impact on ACC CG and BCS bid).

The loser of this game is fighting for an at-large bid so the USC loss would definitely hurt.

I see Clemson losing one more game after this and it's mainly just to the schedule. There's no one team in particular that jumps out. The USC game also looks a lot more winnable now that Shaw looks like he's a walking scarecrow, and they're OL is simply atrocious.

I wouldn't discount Clemson's big play potential vs GaTech. If Boyd has time, they could hang 42 on the nerds.
