Heard him say it today on his radio show.

He said he would not include any steroid guys, so the likes of Bonds, ARod, etc were all out.

He also based some of his choices more on offense than defense, see 3B and SS.

Roster:

P - Koufax

C - Johnny Bench

1B - Gherig

2B - Joe Morgan

SS - Jeter (said he wanted ARod there but no cheaters)

3B - Mike Schmidt

RF - Ruth

CF - Mays

LF - Ted Williams (said he couldn't leave off the best hitter ever, even though his fielding wasn't as good as some other choices)
...

Big ommissions he pointed out -

Mantle (said he was a better hitter than Mays, but his health and defense were subpar compared to Mays)

Dimqggio (As much as it pained him, not good enough to crack that lineup, because Ruth and Williams had to be in the outfield no matter what)

Bonds (cheater)

...

I was a little surprised he didn't even mention Griffey for CF or Brooks Robinson for 3B.

No.

Not over Rogers Hornsby.

Also Jeter over Honus Wagner is a joke.

No problem with Koufax.

People can argue pitchers until the cows come home.

But that's a fricking joke. Wait is this selection because he reads TD and he's punking us?

I’d have Honus Wagner over Jeter, Banks over Morgan, and Campanella or Piazza over Bench, but that’s just me. SS is the only absolute egregious selection

Koufax is pretty much the consensus choice among most fans over 60 or so as the best they ever saw.

The generation before that will probably say Walter Johnson or maybe Bob Feller.

Pedro's peak was as good as Koufax for the Gen X/Gen Y crowd.

It's all a generational choice.

Koufax was the Roger Maris of pitchers.

It’s laughable to have him on the list.

Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, Walter Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Lefty Grove- theres’s easily 20 pitchers who had a better career.

Don't forget Cy Young.

Clemens was the best "modern" pitcher for a career, but yeah, steroids.

Pedro for modern peak season. Gibson before him.

Maddux and Randy Johnson can't be discounted.

Old old school is Old Hoss Radbourn. He once went 60-12 with a 1.38 ERA. 73 starts, 73 complete games, 441 strikeouts. Also had a save in there for good measure.

Bob Gibson is the other option from that generation.

There's always a problem with these lists because too many of the greatest players played the same position (CF, 1B)

The linked list obviously gamed that issue by including Ruth at RF so he can also have Gehrig at 1B.

I would be more tempted to put Ruth at 1B and put Mays, Mantle, and Cobb in the outfield.
