He called Mac Jones "Smith" at one point. I know he used the wrong name for OSU players 2-3 times. Finally, when the game ended he started to call Alabama the "Conference Champions."

I heard him say Nick Saban is looking for his 7th national championship in the last 13 years

Yep, I remember hearing that, too.

He also shouted hat trick after Devonta Smith's second td and later corrected himself.

I swear he messed up the first 4-5 names he tried to pronounce once the game got started. Thought I heard a Javonte in there

Fowler is really bad at play-by-play.

He was a great host of gameday. Idk why they decided to make him their primetime guy.

To me he’s one of the better ones still around. We don’t have the Musberger’s or Jackson’s anymore. He is by far the best play by play for ESPN.
Would take Gus over him but Gus works so well with FOX Big 12 that I don’t think he could ever do prime time ESPN.

Sean McDonogh (sp?) is one of the best. It's especially good that he's paired up with Todd Blackledge, who is legitimately great as a color analyst.

Keith Jackson was great until the last few years when he was very grumpy, bitter and a total shill for Southern Cal.

Dude was downright sad and mad when Vince Young scored that touchdown at the end of that title game.

Fowler and Herbie are incredibly unprofessional. When they realized a beat down was coming they didn't even hide how pissed they were.

I think they are average game announcers who should be in a studio. Herbie just speaks in cliches.

After Wyatt Davis went down, he thought it was a Defensive Lineman and started talking about the other D Line players that were out.

Didn't even correct it after Wyatt Davis got up and hobbled off

Said Smith was from Little Amite and when Ohio State was on offense and one of their olineman got injured he said another OSU dlineman goes down. And then Herby repeated it.

They messed up a bunch in last year's title game too, which was even worse because it was actually a legitimate title as well.

It was a bad call for him last night for sure. As others have pointed out though, the level of talent of PBP guys everywhere just isn’t what it used to be.
