Not excusing what Culliver said or trying to demonize Riley, but playing in a sport and being in a locker room full of the people you just "offended" is a huge part of this story.
Exactly, if Kobe was a Broadway actor and he was pegged as homophobic it'd be tough for him to get a gig

Not really... not everyone cares.

That's the funniest thing I have heard all day man thanks!

Well I guess I owed you one after the laughfest you gave me after I read this:
quote:
Kobe used a homophobic slur (which absolutely nothing is stronger than the gay agenda that the media has been pushing) and it was all but swept under the rug simply because of skin color.

It is retarded that people can be outraged over this yet don't care that another NFC East team is named a racial slur
Posted on 8/2/13 at 5:18 pm to VerlanderBEAST
Yea Cowherd brought that up yesterday. Its an interesting point to say the least....

Redskins lol that is so offensive.. You can't be serious with that bs

the liberal media blew it out of proportion.
Easy way to prevent that... don't shout racial epithets when threatening violence.

guy was drunk and said something he shouldn't have
Drunk is no excuse. This is why this is such a big deal. White people don't see to get it. This isn't just a "ole shucks" he was drunk thing. Quit making excuses for his deplorable actions and recognize that racism needs to be condemned.

Yep.
The black actor on Greg's anatomy got kicked off show and blacklisted for some homophobic slurs.
Mel gibson's anti Semitic comments hurt him in Hollywood.
Dixie chicks comments.

Deplorable? Talk about a stretch.
Deplorable is rape, murder, violent crimes, etc.
He said a dumbass comment. No biggie, apologize and move on.

I think it is 1 or 2 things.
1) As someone mentioned before it is more socially acceptable to be homophobic than racist. Although both are frowned upon, there is a different reaction to public slurs about it.
2) If I'm not mistaken Culliver said that if there were gays they would need to leave. He used an acceptable term.. gays. Riley used the most well known and despised racial slur in the US. If Culliver had said "All the fig gots need to leave" then it might have been different.

I think the following famous quote applies to everyone who is soooo offended:
"Lighten up Francis"

Keep chalking it up to that. It wasn't like the guy said it in casual conversation while drinking with some buds, whoops. He was threatening violence and used a racial slur.
Question, what would your employer do if you went viral using the n-word?

So what? He didn't commit a crime. I'll probably hear that word 100 times at the bar tonight, and I hang out with a couple black folks.
To answer your question, I'd be fired. However, Riley Cooper is one of the top 100 people on the planet at what he does. Even though I have a good job, I'm not in the top 100 in the world at what I do.

That's highly debatable

No, it's really not.

It really is. But let's say he's #97 and #112 is a random FA right now. LeSean McCoy isn't wondering if he can ever respect #112 again. Chemistry issues potentially put Cooper at a disadvantage.
