I couldn't stand him when he made appearances on Simmons' podcast. He fancies himself as this entertainment savant and makes all of these extremely vague pop culture references (way vaguer than the ones Simmons does). He repeatedly calls Hollywood "the town" for God's sake.

It is pretty good, though.
As for Connelly, I wouldn't worry about him. I wouldn't really expect any huge sweeping editorial changes from him. That's more of a concern if he ever loses the "interim" label but even then is doubtful.

Sorry, but Simmons turned into a hack the past few years. He was very likable on the way up the rungs at ESPN, but he started shitting out garbage after a while. Kinda like Rick Reilly.

I agree with you and baloo. This dude is the definition of vanilla and is an interim guy. He's the perfect Ron Zook.
