Last season was actually fun to watch early outside of the bullpen blowing games. but by mid year they were counting down games. Castro routinely pulls up on base baths now and losing so much may have soured him

That was the least amount of Cubs games I've watched since I was 5...which was the year before I was a Cubs fan.

I feel like I don't know much about them right now.

I actually like the rotation we'll have to start the season

Garza
Samardijza
Baker(FA)
Feldman(FA)
T.Wood

And we probably didnt make any big moves because most of the guys we could've traded have barely any MLB experience. Epstein wants to see if guys like Rizzo, Jackson, and LaHair are the real deal. If the O's and Rays can win with a bunch of kids why can't we?

I think the only thing that the Cubs will lack is a big time power hitter

I think Rizzo will become a consistent 30 HR guy as he gets more ABs at the MLB level.

With that being said, the hope is the Castro will start to develop some power. The dude hits .300 all the time and has proven he can make contact with the ball. He can smash. He has the potential to be a 25-30 HR guy at some point in his career. Part of that goes along with just learning how to play the gam. I think later in Castro's career he will become more of a .280-.285 guy with 25+ homeruns instead of 12-15

We also signed Fujikawa from Japan, that will eventually take the Closer role from Marmol and then we will ship Marmol before the deadline.

Fujikawa posted a 1.77 era in 12 years in Japan. Pretty sick. Hopefully it will translate

Problem was he had no position. He wasn't going to get any games at 1B, as that clearly belongs to Rizzo for the foreseeable future. He was terrible in the OF. He couldn't play in RF because his defense was so terrible. Cubs needed him to move on with Soler coming up anyway, as they would like him to be the RF of the future with Jackson in CF.

Plus, his ability to hit LHP was shockingly terrible. Had like 4 or 5 hits all season against lefties.

Yea, I quit watching in July last year, which I don't remember ever doing. I disagree with the OP though. Theo is doing this right. There's no sense in handcuffing yourself with a bunch of high priced FAs right now. They'll wait for their young guys to become consistent producers and plug holes through FA when they're a couple of pieces away. We all saw what happens when you over sign guys to long term deals watching from 2009-2011.
