They can't bring him around, though. And he got picked off twice in two games. 3 steals, though.

Getting picked twice is weird, that won't happen often.

And it would have been 3 times if Ishikawa wouldn't have dropped the ball on Monday.

Not sure why they weren't at double play depth there

I thought the same thing before the play, but it would have made absolutely no difference in the end. No chance they would have turned a double play on that ground ball.

I sort of don't care about the pickoffs. Bonerfacio is a smart player. I think he's probably earned a lot of playing time after these two games.

Looks like Game 3 could be a rainout. Gotta love the opening month of the season where the northern teams are still in the last throws of winter.

I agree completely. He has been taking aggressive leads and the pitchers have had perfect timing and made perfect throws in order to get him.

I hope not. I bet the under and I think it is an easy bet coming off of a 16 inning marathon that lasted til 1 AM local time.

Let's carry over our little observation from the Astros thread. I like what Cosart is saying. Why the frick not, right? It seems like the Astros have a mentality where why not us? It probably won't be them, but why not?

I hear nothing from the Cubs. It feels like the major league team is in a perpetual state of flux. They don't know who will be there in July and who won't. The Astros have their prospects up and don't have real trade pieces. Almost everyone on the Cubs is available. I guess it's hard to be outspoken and go all out with "Let's shock the world" when you don't know who you're going to shock the world with.

Just my terrible two cents.

Bonerfacio.

How many games do you think it will take for one of our starters to get a decision?

Hammel's is pitching today. But Wandy Rodriguez is on the mound for Pirates. He's has good numbers against the Cubs. He's won the past 3 games against them. I think the Cubs take this one in another close one.

What if Pittsburgh is just bad at hitting and they're good at pitching?

I agree with you completely. I like what Cosart said. Specially coming from a young kid. I feel like I have heard a little bit from the Cubs. I just don't feel like I've heard anything from the cornerstones, Rizzo, Castro, Etc.

But:

This is true as well. Samardzija may not be around. Schierholtz may not be around. They have both seen what has happened the last couple of season around the all star break and it could be their turn.
