I can honestly say that at least 90% of the people I know cared about this past olympics.
It was a daily work topic
BUT it completely blows when they're on the other side of the globe and everything is tape delayed.

Rio is only 1 hour ahead of eastern time. So hopefully they get them so most of the stuff will be live in prime time.

Our hopes for 2020 are Birmingham, Denver, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Pittsburgh.
Better start looking towards 2024.
I guess Boston has a shot, but none of those cities seem very strong to be the host city.

Seems like it would be a better Winter venue.

Minneapolis would be pretty cool I think. Something off the beaten path.

Good, another country's taxpayers will have to foot the bill.

It's kind of a tricky situation. Denver was planning to make a bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics if Chicago did not get the 2016 Summer Games. They were planning on Chicago getting the 2016 games, and Denver felt it would be tough for the US to get the 2016 and 2018 Olympics. So they were going to bid on the 2020 Summer Games. (Even though they probably wouldn't get that either because they wouldn't put the Summer Games in the US twice in a row.)
So I think they'll probably place a bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics and abandon their Summer 2020 hopes.

I'm not sure about Dallas. I'm not quite sure when they've placed bids in the past, but it doesn't look like they've expressed any interest for 2016, 2020, or 2024. It seems to be a good fit. At least to become the US bid city.

Oh well, gotta shake it off. I'm ready for Vancouver 2010 in February. It's just around the corner, and close enough right in Canada that's it's almost like it's here. At least all the events will be live unlike Torino in 06.
