Pitchers and catchers officially report to Mesa, AZ for the Cubs in 2016! Jayson Heyward and Kyle Schwarber were some of the earliest to arrive in Arizona this spring, followed closely by Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, Albert Almora and others.

It's here, people. It's time. This is the future. A new era of Cubs baseball is here for a very, very long time.

I have heard talk that Heyward will be the lead off hitter with Zobrist batting second.

Wouldn't Jake Arrieta be the opening day starter?

I'm perfectly fine with rolling Arrieta out as Opening Day starter I just wasn't sure if they were going in that direction or not

If Lackey can turn in another season like last year along with another yr of experience for Hendericks and Hammel just being steady our rotation will be much more prepared for a November run

Don't forget Adam Warren. There was talk that Maddon would go with a 6-man rotation for a while.

I'm nervous about Arrieta. He threw so many more innings last year than he ever has. But, even if he is a little worse he'll still be better than almost every other pitcher in the league.

Pick a position player and a pitcher your most excited to see debut this season

Position: Wilson Contreras (Could take over at C within the next 2 years)

Pitcher: Pierce Johnson

Debut? Like a rookie? I'm not sure we could see another rookie outside of the two you listed. Maybe Duane Underwood?

I have a strange feeling that Kyle Schwarber will be the best hitter in the lineup this year.

Certainly possible. I hope he's improved the glove a notch in the outfield.

I'm going to Chicago for the first time in July, either for the Rangers or Mets series, I'm not sure yet. We may actually go to all six games. And I'm going to Atlanta in June for that series. I've never been to a Cubs' game, so I'm pretty excited.

Never been myself either. I'm going this year. No doubt about it.

In the past hundred years, how many times do you think this statement was made?

I saw a game in Wrigley last year...it was at the end of the season against the Pirates. It was a beautiful day in Wrigley, but the Cubes lost. It was still one day I'll never forget. Just a landmark that always takes my breath away.
