CHC Thread | Javy HR's Twice | COL (Butler) vs. CHC (Lester)

Javy goes yard twice in return to Iowa. What's really, really important to notice about Javy's HR's is his reduced leg kick (it almost looks like Bryant's toe pivot) and his direct track to the ball. His follow through is still all Javy, but he maintains both hands on the bat and is more controlled. Just for fun, take a look at Javy's big swing from 07/23 in AZ. I hope that his reduced leg kick is something that he's comfortable with and it's something he believes in.
Last night, Starlin Castro was removed in the latter innings of the game and all of us were on #hugwatch duty. Joe Maddon reiterated that it was merely baseball specific as Castro was due up fourth in the bottom of the inning and he wanted to keep Chris Coghlan's bat in the lineup, moving him to 2B defensively (and Russell to SS). Also, and this may or may not be related, but Eloy Jiminez was removed from his game in the 5th inning last night. Again, that could be just baseball related or it could be something else.
Dallas Beeler has no business being in the rotation right now and obviously Rafael Soriano has near nothing left at all. The Cubs bullpen could get a huge hit as Neil Ramirez may have to go on the DL again due to more lingering shoulder problems. After warmups last night, he was deemed unavailable. That's just not good. One more thing in the bullpen--Rondon could get moved back into the 9th inning role with Motte struggling lately. However, I like how Maddon was using Rondon in high leverage situations in the 7th and 8th innings to get the tougher outs in the opposing lineup. Zac Rosscup has been pitching very well in his rehab so he could be a recall here soon.
The trade deadline is two days away. I think it's going to be a good one.

Need Baez in the lineup. He's hitting .642 in my RBI baseball ipad game.

First BleedCubbieBlue and now iPad games? Toula, what has become of you?

In all seriousness, Fowler has been on a tear.
Been on base 29x in the last 12 games.
The lack of manufacturing runs is my biggest pet peeve.
We had runners on in every inning last night and couldn't score. Stranding lead off doubles and guys on 3rd with less than 2 outs is unacceptable.

With the recent results I hope this is the quietest trade deadline in Cubs history
This team is just not ready this year. Much rather keep the farm and roll the dice on some ace pitching this winter. The offense is really young overall so another year together with a Baez addition and some more bullpen help will be when the magic starts

Roster moves:
Relievers Ben Rowen and Yoervis Medina recalled.
Reliever Neil Ramirez to the DL (abdominal soreness...that's nowhere near his shoulder), starter Dallas Beeler optioned to Iowa.
ETA: Starlin Castro is not in today's lineup (Cubs saying it's a normal day off).
ETA 2.0: Coghlan in RF, Schwarber in LF.
Ben Rowen is not on the 40-man roster...which is at 40 (with two on the 60-day DL (Turner, La Stella)).

Beeler needs to stay in Iowa. I'd be more comfortable starting wood as the #5 if need be.

Has to be more to it than that. Even if it's just a ploy.

as for Baez, i like the no leg kick. Should help him make more contact

Reports are hinting that HOU may go hard after Hamels
Also that San Diego may be about to make a big deal

Neil Ramirez is headed to the DL with abdominal pain that was caused by a sneeze. That just sucks.

Any bullpen help available on the trade market? That may be more of a concern than the offense
Posted on 7/29/15 at 10:46 am to MrPackSix
Drew storen wil be soon. Kimbrel. They will cost
I'd bet any deal we make will have bullpen help involved
