4-2. Jorge Soler is a hero. Chris Coghlan is his trusty, white sidekick. Together they scour the ballparks and ruin the childhood dreams of major league pitchers.

No, really...the Cubs are 4-2 and it's just six games into the season, but they are 4-2 with Jon Lester sitting at a 7.00+ ERA, no Kris Bryant, no 3B and Dexter Fowler hitting under .200.

Also, Kris Bryant had a 3 for 5 night in New Orleans last night, all three hits were singles. He added a stolen base. I think he also had two throwing errors. Yeesh.

Albert Almora had a single and a double and an outfield assist.

Dan Vogelbach, professional softball player, had two Vogelsmashed doubles.

The other 3B prospect, Christian Villanueva, had himself a 2 HR night.

Lefty James Russell, recently signed after being released by the Braves in Spring Training, pitched two perfect innings in relief.

He's a 3B or a LF. Soler has RF under control.

It doesn't matter, Jorge Soler is going to be playing RF for a very very long time at Wrigley Field.

We need him for our revolutionary pick off plays.

It's a whole new way to play. Maddon knows exactly what he's doing.

If the Astros can have one, anyone can.

Bryant can play right, but he will be left or 3b.

He can also play first and second, and ss as well. He can catch, and if Lester doesn't get his shite together he is capable of being our ace.

He's Kris fricking Bryant. He doesn't get hyped. He stays hyped.

That was so bad it was good last night.

I think it was JD that said, after the game Maddon will say that's the play we've been working on.

I don't know about "under control" just yet, but he's gonna be entrenched there for a very long time!

So with the rainouts, what day can Bryant come up? I would assume he would come at the first chance with Olt now hurt.

I'd assume it's still based on # of games. So the rainout (there was only 1) pushes him back a day. Question for pig or SB though.

I'll chalk that up to a wet ball.

It's not games, it's days. MLB days, not MiLB days. The service clock date is still this Friday. I would not be surprised if the Cubs call him up a week or so later, but I also would not be surprised if the Cubs were blatantly obvious about everything and call him up Friday.

A corresponding roster move has to be made as well as Bryant isn't on the 40-man roster--meaning someone will have to get off the 40-man roster (someone correct me if I'm wrong, though...the Cubs 40-man roster may NOT be full...it might be at 39). A Welington Castillo trade might be the catalyst and when/how the Cubs can get that done. Look to Cleveland as a potential partner--they just lost Yan Gomes for about 8 weeks.

It isn't based on # of games at all. It is only based on the number of days. There are 183 on the MLB calendar. Once a player has been in the league for 172 days, that is considered a full year of service time. That is why everyone keeps saying 12 days. The first day of the season was April 5, Easter Sunday. So the first day Bryant could come up without incurring a full year of service time would be Friday April 17.

Despite this being a long shot there is very little (if any) chance that the Cubs would call up Kris Bryant on Friday because if there happens to be a tie at the end of the regular season that would cause an extra game to be played it would extend that 183 day calendar by a potential day or two causing Kris Bryant to accrue a full year of service time.

So that factor along with the fact that Epstein has typically called up prospects on the road (Soler in Cinci and Baez in Colorado) leads one to believe that the earliet Bryant would come up is next week in either Pittsburgh (Mon-Thursday) or Cincinnati (Friday-Sunday)
