This is the first playoff show I've watched. Why were they pumping USC so hard?

They want big schools in the playoffs for higher ratings

I think it would be, but I'm not convinced they beat either WSU or whoever they play for the P12 ship

Outside of WVU, OU has beaten no-one and has looked fairly meh doing it.
SMU is a terrible L but Navy is not. Sort of ridiculous to have OU 12 spots higher.

Colorado loses. Southern Cal win the Pac 12.
Penn State loses. Ohio State wins the Big Ten.
Clemson loses in the ACC championship game.
Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State.
1) Alabama
2) Ohio State
3) Oklahoma
4) Southern Cal
Two rematches?

Hocutt made it clear there's a sizeable gap between Ohio State and Penm State. Buckeyes are in if they win this weekend. Obviously a pretty big if though.

Big time historic program in a big media market, always gets big ratings, and USC is a completely different than the one that started the year off 1-3 with Darnold now starting. USC at #12 would beat the teams ranked #5-#11. Hell we've already beaten 2 of them.

Yeah USC has really been playing great ball.

Not sure how much higher you can reasonably put USC with 3 L's. I think over Louisville is fair but after that, the argument gets pretty tough.
LSU in 2006 was probably playing the best ball in the nation at the end of the year but the eye test can only go so far even with the playoff.

Agreed. I'd have SC at #10 or #11, but I'm biased and have watched every minute of our games. So I can rationalize it by saying, okay one loss was to Bama first game, second loss was @Stanford with our terrible QB and our 3rd loss was the following game in a shortened week on Friday @Utah, where Darnold made his 1st start and we lost with 16 seconds left to go. And then we have wins @Washington and against Colorado. But this is all just rationalized crap. With 3 losses we shouldn't be higher than #10 max.

If Colorado can beat Utah and Washington, I think they have a decent shot at the 4 seed.

USC has looked good recently but looking at their schedule they haven't exactly played that great of teams. Beat colorado's back up QB by 4 and Washington, and a bunch of sub .500 teams.

USC is ranked as having the 4th toughest schedule A high of 1 and low of 20. Last week they were rated as having the 8th toughest
