They'll get to be with an old conference mate once the big 12 falls apart

Baylor is a terrible school.

If the Big 12 had crashed would Iowa St and Baylor have ended up in the MWC?

No. The NWC has no interest in Iowa State.

Iowa State will never get in the MWC.

Iowa State will need to go SWAC. No one wants them.

Ann Richards gave no fricks about the end of the SWC.
Baylor and Texas Tech are in the Big 12 due to the patronage of one Bob Bullock, then Lt. Gov and one of the meanest SOBs ever to serve in the Lege.
ETA: I agree that UTEP makes sense and UNM would not be receptive. I also agree that UTSA makes more sense than Rice. But I want good things for all 4 schools so hopefully that happens.

UTEP was nearly a founding member of the WAC. Tons of history but now it's been nearly 20 years since the MWC split from 16 team WAC.

Are you sure? 12 gave them a championship game like the SEC, and they locked up the "Big XII" trademark a few years earlier.

We should know something about the Cajuns' sanctions in the Spring

For Iowa State the MAC would have been likely. Baylor, meanwhile, had pissed off so many people with its threats of suing everyone that they may have had trouble with a Southland invite.

What happens to Rice baseball? Mountain West baseball is fricking horrid, they would have to front load the shite out of their schedule to get an RPI to host
I wish the SEC could pick up them and ULL for baseball and play more conference games but unfortunately that's not how conferences work

Rice should join the Big 12 for baseball (as Iowa State no longer fields a team).

That's what basically every historian says. The conference was just going to be a&m and Texas until ann Richards and the lt. Governor got involved for Baylor and tech

Ann Richards was the governor at the time but she wasn't really the one that pushed for Baylor to get in the Big 12. It was lieutenant governor Bob Bullock who did the heavy lifting for them.
