Posted by Message LSUnowhas2 Celtics hire Brad Stevens as new Head Coach This will not end well for Mr. Stevens. He should have stayed at Butler. I hope I am wrong but this guy is taking over a team that just got rid of the majority of their remaining stars and who knows if Rondo is going to be back at full speed. I can only imagine they are paying him a fortune that was too much to pass up.

What's the risk for him? If he fails, some college team will love to have him in a few years.

I wonder if he called Rick Pitino?

Pitino was probably like, "Sure! Go for it! They pay you a small fortune and when you get tired of the job or get fired you can get an even better college job!"

Celtics will make the Finals as an 8 seed under Stevens. Book it.

Dream job. Good for him. The Celtics are in rebuilding mode so the pressure to him to win right away is low. Good move for him as if he fails in the end, he'll have no issue landing a high profile gig back in college a 3 or so years from now. He gets to coach one of he most decorated franchises in all of sports... he'd be crazy to pass it up.

One of the more shocking head coaching hirings I can recall in a long time

I always liked Stevens, but this doesn't seem like the best situation to start your professional coaching career.

I agree. I am just saying that it will end badly in Boston. He will never win there. This is Rick Pitino the sequel.
