If that was the case then maybe he would spend money on actual talent.

So does that mean that Phil Garner is coming back?

Are you kidding me? Obviously you haven't watched any Astros games this year. Not every one of the losses are his fault but his shitty decision making cost the team quite a few games and quite a few pitchers.

Even the local radio stations here in houston are saying it's not his fault, he just has a terrible team. I personnaly think it's a combination of both. Mostly the players

If they don't see that Coop is horrible, then they are kidding themselves

He spent quite a bit of money on the draft this year as well as last year and paid above slot on more than a few picks. He and Pupuras inability to sign draft picks led to having to sign stop gappers like Blum and Pudge and having guys past their prime on the field. But cooper was just terrible and had to be fired. According to reports, he had lost respected of his players who even went as far as wearing t-shirts that read "Really?" as a shot at Coopers decision making.

If the Astros were managed by Joe Torre or Tony La Russa they'd still suck. Managers in baseball are the least important coaches in team sports.

This is true.

But it doesn't mean that Cooper was worth a shite.

He had to lead the league in pitchers that had 1/3 of an inning appearances. Seemed like they couldn't finish a game unless he used at least 5 pitchers.

The one year extension they gave him was basically severance pay. Don't be surprised to see Biggio on the bench next season. There are many problems with the organization these days from top to the bottom. I have faith in Wade but he slipped up with signing and over paying Kaz 'anal fissure' Matsui. I'll never get over Hunsicker being pushed out for Purpura.

This. He wasn't going to make it to the post season with the roster he has. But you have to watch the team over the course of a full season and you'll see that some of the decisions he made led to this. Chris Sampson spoke out against him saying that Coop knew he was still hurt and should have been on the disabled list rather than pitching. Russ Ortiz had no respect for him and spoke out against him and said something along the lines of he had no communication with his manager. Oswalt doesn't like him. His misuse of young relievers has led to two of them being put on the disabled list. i could go on and on
