Blake Griffin missed his entire rookie season with an injury....

One was already injured coming into the draft and one was injured after.

Terrible comparison. Apples and oranges.

Who should they have taken then? Alex Len? Cody Zeller? Otto Porter?

Whoever else they had at the top of their board. Not the undersized power forward who was already going to be blocked by another first round pick of theirs name Tristan Thompson.

The Cavs are going to build around the potential LBJ return. Embiid will be the pick.

Other than rebounding, Tristan is terrible. He gets blocked at the rim like 55% of the time. Has no jump shot and can't defend.

He averaged 11/9 as a 21 and 22 year old in the NBA with a solid shooting numbers and worked hard on his free throws during the offseason and improved significantly. That let's you know he's willing to work hard and still developing.

Defensively, the whole team sucks. Is that a product of him not being able to defend or the coaching and it's system? Selfish teams tend to play poor defense. Bring in a good coach and I'm willing to bet his defensive play will improve. That said, if they if fact draft Embiid, I'm not sure if it matters if he just scores and rebounds well.

He gets beat off the ball by quicker PFs and can't hold his ground in the low post. He'll play in the league for a long time as a backup because of his rebounding though.

He's just not versatile enough to have him out there 30+ minutes a game.

That may very well be true, but I wouldn't just discount the fact a 23 year old kid can improve. With experience and some good coaching, which Cleveland clearly didn't have, he deficiencies defensively aren't that hard to fix.

I think that depends on the system. Not all teams require a versatile stretch 4 power foward. I really think he can be a 15/10/1 guy... which is a solid starting player. He could also develop a 15 ft jumper that would make him more versatile. Look at Blake Griffin. He couldn't shoot a lick but with hard work, he's developed a respectable jump shot.

He's young and he can improve.

Why they need to take Wiggins or Embiid imo. Coach K was subbing out Jabari Parker on defense against fricking Mercer in the NCAA tourney.

If they truly are serious about bring LeBron back I think you have to go Embiid. He can help a championship caliber team immediately because of his shot blocking and rebounding.

Back injuries always worry me in a league like the NBA, I would go with the safer picks in Wiggins or Parker
