The cardinals should trade Holliday. I love him but he's probably entering his twilight years. They could still get value for him from someone dumb like the yankees.

That's probably a trade that happens closer to the trade deadline if ever but that would require the Cards being out of contention and a team being willing to overpay for the hopes of some pop in the lineup.

I have watched him pitch quite a bit, too. His four seamer was so bad this year he had to add a sinker.

THIS

Seriously, why not start the year with Heyward? You could always move him mid-summer or get a first back.

Shelby is garbage. I don't give a frick how he pitched for 1 month down the stretch, you could say the same about half the pitchers in MLB. Statistically he is fricking worthless. I mean dude had to add a sinker cause his stuff sucked so big of nuts.

Atleast I'm saving $100 on MLB.tv this year.

And why the frick is Kimbrel untouchable? Having the best closer in the game is god damn useless if you're not trying to compete.

Why the frick would we not maximize value there?

Great, the useless WAR. We should have just handed Heyward 300 million then.

Not trying to convince you he's a #1. He's obviously not. But I think he is also better than you are giving him credit for. After adding the sinker, I think he had one bad outing against the Cubs where he gave up 3 but before that he had a couple of scoreless games through 7 and a few others where he only gave up 1. If he continues on that route by adding the sinker, I think your opinions might change by this time next year.

no convincing you i guess. so a dude adds a pitch to his repertoire, it works, and you are making fun of him for it? okkk

he's so bad at pitching, he added another pitch to make up for his other pitches not being as good!

so it doesn't count!

That is hyperbole, but I would much rather have signed Heyward to a market value deal (8 years, $150 mil maybe?) than trade him for slop.

I don't understand why Braves fans are melting so hard. Getting a young mid rotation piece with potential and another young minor league arm with potential is a lot better than a comp pick.

That is not a 18.75 million dollar a year player.

Now while I agree we should have gotten a little more, but it's not some big lopsided trade.

As I see it, the Cards gave up a pitcher who would have been in their starting rotation and now will be in Atlanta's starting rotation for the foreseeable future for a player who won't even be in the starting lineup by the end of the year and will be gone for certain after next year.

Regardless of what you think about Miller, you're also overvaluing Heyward.

What do you want to bet?

If you think he gets under that AAV as a 25 year old next winter I will do a sig, avi, etc. for however long you want.

He has put up almost 25 WAR through his age 24 season.

Is the best defender in baseball, an elite baserunner and an above average hitter with very good past production as a hitter.

I'm sure he will get it. Not too sure he is worth it.

Well let's hope this move works out better for us than the last couple big moves the Braves made, which most were ecstatic about.
