taking the BCS system and throwing in teams 3 & 4 into a playoff ISNT better than the current system that uses a human committee (which can't be 100% unbiased)?

They wanted a playoff, just keep the way they are selected and add 2 more teams. It's simple. Why do they have to totally change how the teams are selected just because they're adding 2 more teams??

Am I wrong, if so please tell me why.

Looking back to the beginning of the BCS, using the top 4 teams in the BCS would have been extremely fair basically every year.

Because conferences. They want their champions to matter. 4-team playoff based on the BCS system would allow 2 teams from the same conference in a decent amount of the time, especially 2 SEC teams.

If those 2 teams are part of the BEST 4 in the country, then they should be in. The goal should be to pit the 4 best against each other.

I was all for the BCS just expanding with a plus 1 game. The committee is a stupid idea and hopefully it is scrapped soon.

Yes, we all know and agree on this.

You want your reason, it's conferences. They want a better chance to be represented.

What years where two teams from the same conference had a shot to make it in do you think the committee would have left them out?

Off the top of my head, Texas in 08 and Florida in 09 would have both made the playoffs along with OU and Alabama respectively.

The committee is stupid because they use the eye test.

College football is the only sport on the planet where results aren't all that matter. It's the only sport where Alabama can lose "but they turned it over 5 times!"

A win is a win, and a loss is a loss. All that should matter is who you've played and who you've beat. Wins, losses, strength of schedule, strength of conference, etc.

Eye test is retarded.

Because the computer doesn't account for the eye test. To me, that's everything.

2012 Florida would have been in, according to the BCS.

I doubt the committee would have put that Florida team that didn't win their division into the playoff. Would have been Notre Dame, Alabama, Oregon, and Kansas State.

ETA: Obviously, there are years where 2 teams from the same conference would get in. But they're just trying to limit that.

but don't polls factor in with the computers??

i would rather the bcs. they got the same 4 teams in with the exact same match ups had the bcs been in place last season..

the committee just seems incredibly unnecessary.. they have to be accountable for watching all the games (you know they don't) and then there's more possibility for bias (even if they don't intend to be).. just seems like so much extra work that is not needed.

The eye test is retarded because some team could start out 0-2, run train on the rest of its opponents, and then be the best by the end of the season. That team would not deserve to play in a championship.

For the BcS to have mattered, they really needed to ignore the Coaches Poll.

Why is that, because they lost two games? LSU might disagree.

They could accomplish the same thing by taking the top 3 conference champions with the fourth spot going to the highest remaining team.

It's gonna move to 8 teams sooner rather than later, IMO. As soon as they can contractually change it, at least.

5 or 6 auto-bids, and then 2 wild cards.

Which could easily happen again in the future, right? Especially now that there are twice as many teams getting a shot.
