That's apples to oranges and just an overall shitty comparison.
It's taken Cam 6 seasons to equal Vicks career passing stats, and he's done it in more efficient fashion.
Oh, and Cam has yet to cause one of the biggest social scandals in modern NFL history forcing him to sir out 3 seasons while incarcerated....

Now the guy who used to hold the career record for rushing TDs by a QB before Cam broke it, Steve Young, is a Hall of Famer.

Yall keep trying to compare Cam to other QBs there's really never been another QB like Cam at this level. It's pointless to compare him to other QBs because when it's his time on the ballot they aren't going to use the same benchmarks to judge him.

It's way to premature to talk Hall of Fame. He's got a loooong way to go. He had an excellent year last year, it may end up being the anomaly.

Could be.

he still isn't that accurate of a passer. Got a great arm with a lot of zip on the ball but he's high and right with it a lot.

They want to take out the number of times he's being hit, and start limiting his running. Without that, he's nothing special.

Which is why he will only get worse as he ages just like a running back when he hits the wall. A QB's footwork & throwing form effects their accuracy passing. Cam has never been the most accurate passer to begin with & he will only get worse the more hits he takes as a runner. QBs take enough hits in the pocket as is but Cam has taken far more than the average QB because of his running style.

Good way to do that is to pick a RB in the draft. J. Stewart is a serviceable back but if they picked Cook or LF7 that'd be big for them.

wouldn't be surprised if they went and picked a defensive player though. That D took a step back from what they usually have. Or they could pick an O-lineman.

Basic rhetoric lesson time. It's the perfectly apt comparison because we are talking purely and solely about running ability. This is how you framed the discussion. You framed the discussion as Newton deserving to belong in the HoF right now based solely on his running ability. This is your doing and your choice to make this point. So, if we are talking purely and only about running ability as a quarterback, Michael Vick is totally irrelevant to the discussion? No, it just doesn't make the point that you want to make, and thus is magically becomes irrelevant.

Now time for the crux of this basic lesson. There is no such thing as a perfect analogy. No two things will ever compare perfectly. Analogies only make sense within a context. And again, you framed this context to be solely about running ability.

Now talk about apples to oranges and overall shitty comparisons especially given the context that again you framed but refuse to adhere to. Let's compare Cam Newton to one of the most efficient passers in the history of the league who won multiple super bowls then talk about how rushing stats for quarterbacks makes all other production irrelevant.

Maybe one day an Auburn QB will win the Superbowl.

Bama has not just three Superbowl winning QBs but three Superbowl MVPs in Bart Starr, Joe Namath, and Kenny Stabler.

Oh yeah and they all are Hall of Famers. Cam may get there one day but he's not there yet.

Coming in we expected him to get beat up.

The non-calls of helmet to helmet are icing on the cake.

I wish refs were accountable.

I am no au fan. He was aided by block in the back on winning td run vs lsu. But they were back inside the ten and ran clock.

Hes better than vince young.

Looks like he is suffering the same fate as steve young, only too soon to mature.

Fans have to demand accountabilty for refs looking the other way.

And end the intentional shoulder crushing injuries.

Cam Newton isn't hall of fame worthy yet.

This was a bad season. An outlier, if you will.

I expect the rest of his career to be somewhere between the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He needs more talent around him, but he also needs to fine tune his mechanics for when he's not as able to run. He needs to be able to stay healthy and play smart, and players needs to be drafted to keep him upright without being killed.

This is all pretty accurate.
O-Line is Carolina's biggest problem at the moment.
