Cam Newton has become America’s greatest sports redemption story.

Kicked off the team at Florida for stealing and then exiled to Blinn Community College, Newton seemed destined to take his place among the thousands of promising young athletes never able to realize their potential.

Fortunately for Newton he found Auburn.

From the moment Newton became a Tiger his life has been on a fast track past simple redemption toward icon status.

An SEC Championship, the Heisman Trophy and Auburn’s first national championship in over 50 years would have cemented Newton as one of college football’s greatest turnarounds. Cam, however, was just getting started.

First pick in the NFL Draft, major national product endorser, Auburn sociology graduate and now $100+ million dollar quarterback.

I see nothing but facts here . Cam is the epitome of the American Dream and displays our country's resilient spirit in overcoming adversity and achieving success

Why do you Aubies shove him down our throats?

And you wonder why people dislike him.

Oh and he may be the golden boy off the field, but he's a douche on it.

Cam had it hard, growing up to be 6'5 with a rocket arm. An inspiration for us all.

Sorry for having an opinion, an opinion that others outside of Auburn have too

Calling it America's Greatest Redemption Story is probably a stretch.

That is a flat lie. But you see nothing but "facts"?

Is this an Onion-like article? Sure reads like one.

Don't apologize, I love that you're so bitter toward Auburn

Cam Newton should be more hated than Lebron James. Should be, but he's not even in the same conversation.

The people that like a likable and nice guy who does a lot for his community are brainwashed.

The people obsessively convinced that the likable and nice guy is a thug, and that Auburn paid him a bunch of money nobody could find evidence of, are the reasonable ones.

Seabiscuit is a better American sports redemption story and he's a fricking horse.

Wouldn't Bill J0ohnson the 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist in the Downhill be more of a redemption story?

Going from stealing cars, being placed into juvenile detention center, to winning gold be more of a redemption?

ETA:

I would say Ron LeFlore is a better redemption story, from being in prison to becoming a Major Leaguer.
