This has to be part of the tank, right?

Why do teams that know they are tanking go out and hire retreads for a few years and then actually look for a coach in a couple years? Why not go out and hire a young promising coach for a 2 year stint?
Like 80% of coaches in the league are first time NBA coaches.

I know, but someone still gives Byron Scott a job

What move have they made since the new Buss took over has been a good one?
The Celtics and 76ers did exactly what you said.

Why would he accept less when he knows they are going to be garbage the next couple years?

I never understood this with the NBA. Why do teams that know they are tanking go out and hire retreads for a few years and then actually look for a coach in a couple years? Why not go out and hire a young promising coach for a 2 year stint? If he is actually a good coach, you are set for the future, if he is not a good coach you are in the same boat you would be in with a Byron Scott/Mike Woodson
Because they know the team will tank under him, letting them rebuild with draft picks. And after that they fire him, making the whole 4-year contract look like they were in it for the long haul with him but it just didn't work out. If they only gave him 2 years it would make the intentional tank more obvious.

but the intentional tank is very obvious. I think the opposite is true. Hiring a guy like Brett Brown or Brad Stevens could actually make a team outperform despite being shite while you know you aren't getting shite out of Byron Scott so tank away!

I don't understand why people recycle shitty coaches.

the fanbase will have already rejected the young coach 8/10 times
you hire a retread b/c they know how to be a coach. you won't get any marc jackson-type scenarios
just like why certain bad directors and actors keep getting work. sometimes you hire guys you know can finish the movie
