quote:

When asked about the incident after the game, Williams attributed Harper's "inability to run 90 feet" as the reason for the benching.

"Lack of hustle. That's why he came out of the game," Williams said. "He and I made an agreement, this team made an agreement, that when we play the game, that we hustle at all times."

I'd just like to point out that this was the same reason lunch was cancelled in Heavyweights.

Weird I always thought his biggest thing was hustle, he was just always stupid about it or so it seemed.

Good, that shite's epidemic in MLB. Needs to be done by more managers.

Dude grounded out to the pitcher who made a clean play, 99% of MLB players including Williams himself don't hustle down the line on that play

You're asked to run for maybe a couple minutes in a baseball game and you can't even run 90 feet?

The guy that knocks himself out once a week chasing fly balls was benched for not hustling... Never thought I'd see the day.

This. Benching one of your best players for "not hustling" is idiotic. I'm sure Apple suspends their best employees when they find out they can kind of be prima donnas.

I'd imagine it had more to do with a new manager trying to reenforce his control on a team who is 4-6 over their last 10 games.

Not mashing the panic button, but just trying to say "we're better than this."

To which every single person in that locker room probably groaned. Nobody hustles every single time on an automatic out.
