Browns and Jets would have been the favorites to come out of the AFC if their starting QB was healthy. Those teams are loaded. As it is, both teams will now probably miss the playoffs.

Shoulder surgeries are no joke. Once his surgery is completed, he will most likely start immediate physical therapy. Massages can also help keep him pretty limber as well.

Guy can’t stay healthy - wonder how much they are regretting that trade

It's only fair if Browns fans are wondering: Is it possible to get out of Watson's controversial contract? Is it even feasible for Cleveland to look ahead at QB?

The short answer is: not yet. If the Browns were to outright release Watson after 2023, per Over the Cap, they'd instantly lose $136.9 million, or roughly 53% of the entire projected 2024 salary cap. That cannot and will not happen. Even if they were to designate him a post-June 1 cut, the net loss would be $92M -- also unfathomable. Barring a restructure on Watson's end (which seems highly unlikely, considering his representation specifically negotiated a fully guaranteed deal that even included workarounds for his 2022 suspension), the soonest the Browns could cut the QB without losing tens of millions is 2026, the final year of his deal.

It was a stupid contract at the time and even worse now. Didn’t he already miss 3-4 games this season prior to the shoulder?

Baker played through his shoulder injury while there and they went and chased another qb. Careful what you wish for.

Brady Quinn looks like such a dumb piece of frick right now

QB Deshaun Watson wanted to be shot up and play through the injuries, and he sought multiple medical opinions, per sources. But doctors were clear: if he got hit again in the same spot, the shoulder could fall apart. Now surgery awaits and his 2023 season is over.

Being a Browns fan is unlike anything sports related. I just laugh when i see other fans complaining about their teams. It pales in comparison to being a Browns fan. Nothing is even remotely close to being a Browns fan...NOTHING!!!

Brutal for Browns fans. It looked like they were about to get that thing rolling.

I don’t root for injuries, but I’ll make an exception for this scumbag, and by extension, this scumbag organization.

Waiting patiently amid the happy ending accusations and eventually trading Watson, along with finally firing McNair's Rasputin, will forever be seen as a turning point for the franchise from being a complete joke.
