I'm sure excessive force was used, but the article makes it seem like they sent in the national guard for no reason at all. It'd be nice to hear the other side of the story. But I'm willing to bet the police and the city are gonna have to pay.

One the comments says Backe plays softball in a local league and that his injuries are extremely exaggerated

This.

Not too mention backe is a local and the police know exactly who he is or at least enough to recognize him in softball games. Why throw him on his throwing shoulder?

I know softball game was after incident but if you live in galveston and dont know who brandon backe is there is something wrong with you. Its like living in Lafayette and being oblivious to jake delhomme

Think "the fighter" when they break mickey's hand

I have no clue what happened but it's funny seeing everyone blindly believe one side of the story.

Well that, and somehow Brandon Backe lost 12-15 million in future earnings coming off Tommy John surgery and a season where he went 9-14 with a 6.05 ERA.

Police said O'Balle became "belligerent" when an officer confronted him and that he became "aggressive toward and noncompliant with" the officer. More officers showed up and others with the wedding party interfered to keep officers from arresting O'Balle, who threw punches at the officers, police said.

Then one of the ladies in the party started hitting the officers in the hands with her tits.

He was still a young MLB pitcher that had a shot at a comeback given the right circumstances. Baseball overpays a lot. Not that far fetched to believe backe could have gotten a deal or 2 in the future

O'Balle "was, in violation of Texas law, permitted to consume alcoholic beverages to the point of becoming highly intoxicated," police said. O'Balle's attempts to take beer from the convention center was also in violation of the law, authorities said.

So a wedding party was ruined, 30 people were beaten, and a professional athlete had his career ruined over this?

What a bunch of counts these cops are. F them.

A cousin of mine was at that wedding party in Galveston. What a clustfrick that was. All charges were dropped if I remember.
