Anyone else dislike that there are bowl games after the CFP games? For example, why is the Liberty Bowl played on January 2?

I kind of view it as a palate cleanser.

Why are the playoff games on New Years Eve when we are supposed to party

I agree. It used to mean something to play a New Year's or later bowl game. Now it's meaningless

The GoDaddy Bowl is December 23 this year, but in the past has always been well into January.

b/c the Rose and Sugar bowls are run by self important assholes who refused to have their games moved from the prime time slots on Jan 1.

its straight fricking idiotic to have the playoff games on NYE instead of on Jan 1 and those pricks are the reason why.

1. ESPN either owns or has television rights to most of the bowl games (fact--not a dig)

2. January 2 is a Saturday

3. No NFL games that Saturday. Week 17. All Sunday games. All games with connected playoff implications played simultaneously.

4. College football gets better ratings than pre-conference college basketball.

5. Therefore, January 2 ESPN college football quardupleheader!

Leave the Sugar Bowl out of this. The Rose Bowl refuses to accommodate anyone and nobody stands up to them.

They threw a hissy fit when non-Pac 10/Big 10 started going to their games, so they changed the rules.

They refused to have a corporate sponsor place their name in the front of the bowl game (now mind you, they didn't refuse their money), so they got an exception.

Now the entire system has to change their schedule to make sure that one particular game isn't inconvenienced.

It actually is pretty damn selfish, but hey, nobody has the balls to tell them to shove it.

The Sugar Bowl has always been accommodating to television and the greater good. They've played in different stadiums and cities. They've played day games. They've played night games. They've played on January 3. They don't lose their shite when Virginia Tech winds up being in their bowl game.

I'm sorry but you are flat out wrong.

The Sugar and Rose had it written into the contract that they will always keep those NYD timeslots throughout the length of the current playoff deal.

They are NOT looking out for the greater good of CFB in any way, shape, or form.

Do you think having 5-7 teams in bowl games is for the "greater good" of college football?

ESPN tried to move them to Jan 2. I assumed the Committee said no because there was NFL that day. Nope. It's the last week of regular season and everybody plays on Sunday.

I just don't get it.
