4. Houston vs. Texas--winner gets Tom Herman

5. Colorado vs. Penn State--The How the Hell Did That Happen Rose Bowl

I was going to say OU instead of USC but W. Michigan would win that one going away.

I've always wanted a rematch with LSU however this would be the one year I don't want to face them.

Oregon vs. ND in a nobody wins bowl game since both teams suck.

Who would the Rose Bowl pick if it came down to Colorado and USC?

Kind of a rhetorical question bc TV will decide for them. And USC won head to head.

A better question is do the choose USC or Washington if Washington wins out but is not in the playoff? Is the Rose Bowl tied to the champ?

How would CU not make the Rose Bowl if they win the Pac12 title game?

Eta: Just re-read your post. Im not sure what the tie-in for the Rose Bowl is exactly. I just always assumed its a Big10/Pac12 matchup

How about ND and Baylor in the Hypocrite Bowl? Winner loses religious affiliation! (Yes, I said winner)

The following tie-ins exist for bowls in the years they are not hosting the national semifinals:
Rose Bowl — Big Ten #1 vs. Pac-12 #1.

Yes, the Rose Bowl automatically takes the champ if they are not in the playoff so if UW wins the Pac-12 title game but is not selected, they automatically go to the Rose Bowl.

The CU-USC question is interesting if UW is in the playoff. The Rose Bowl Committee generally actually doesn't like having UCLA or USC simply because you aren't bringing people into hotel rooms, restaurants, bars etc spending money in Pasadena vs. when you have a fanbase traveling in. ESPN obviously would want USC.
