Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham will be facing some consequences for pulling 3-star RB Matt Colburn’s scholarship offer two days before National Signing Day.

Colburn’s coach at Dutch Forks High School (South Carolina), Tom Knotts, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Louisville is no longer welcome to recruit at his school.

quote:

“He (Petrino) won’t be able to recruit my school anymore and I imagine there will be some other coaches that will say the same thing. Trust factor is just not there. They’ve known about these three DBs wanting to go to the NFL for weeks now. To use that as an excuse doesn’t hold water with me.”

Grey-shirting an eighteen year old kid who is willing to play for you TWO DAYS before signing day is despicable and low. It tells you all you need to know about coach Petrino. He wants kids to make him look good, not the other way around.

frick you, Petrino. Can't imagine the world of hurt that young man is going through right now. To pull that shite two days before signing day warrants at the very least a sincere kick to the shin.

How does Petrino sleep at night?

Every major school does this. LSU has done it, and it will probably happen again.

Somewhat. But this kid shut his recruiting down after his commitment to UL so they really fricked him.

I think you're overlooking Petrino's track record

Yeah I hate that prick. Just saying I don't think it's a big deal to offer a greyshirt to a student getting a full ride. I think this just helps reinforce Petrino is a huge dickhead, and this was a good excuse to get him out.

Major college football recruiting can be ugly sometimes, but this happens at a lot of places.

Not for his first semester of college, he pays his own way (or wastes 5 months of his academic career).

Yep, if you include all commitments to Ohio State and all current scholarship players, then Ohio State is at 89 right now (limit of 85).

The issue is that if Torrence Gibson, Mike Weber, etc. sign elsewhere, and Braxton Miller transfers then Ohio State will be UNDER the limit. A place that Ohio State would never want to voluntarily be.

College sports is a cutthroat business that a lot of fans don't understand. And it works both ways with decommits, gray shirts, and roster manipulations.

They brought it up to him last week.

When did Bobby let this kid know?
