Level of competition in the NBA is not close to what is was in the late 80s/90s either. The NBA is so down right now that the Pacers are in the ECC. Lebron has simply benefited from all his actually competition to age itself out of the league.

The talent level is there, I think you can point more to injuries. Rose, granger, westbrook, and on and on
