Any prior suspensions by mlb for throws making a guy slide? MLB routinely hand out double digit suspensions for a fight?

This wasn't a routine fight where everyone just kinda grabs at everyone.

This could have been discussed but Toronto was down one, why didn't Smoak continue to round the bases as everyone ran to the brawl?

He had already been ruled out by the ump for runner interference on the throw.

That's not a fight. That's a hugging match. Bautista acted like a fricking bitch.

Why is no one saying that all Bautista had to do was tilt his head and Odor would be sporting a broken hand?

Didn't know how to use the helmet.

That's why I would win in a fight. I know what to use to my advantage.

If you watched after that, Bautista wanted no part of a fight after getting tagged. Beltre was holding him back with not struggle whatsoever.

He wanted no part of it because he was damn near knocked out. He didn't look to have his senses. I think Beltre realized it and was just protecting him.

Are they friends? I could be wrong.

Can anyone think of an impromptu sports punch that connected better than this?

Per Buster Olney, Beltre and Bautista are close friends.

I'd hazard a guess that Beltre saw how devastating the punch was and was protecting Bautista from anything further if he was concussed or knocked senseless.

Why hasn't anyone brought up the fact that these immigrant workers are too violent to keep in the United States.

Odor and Bautista should get the same suspension. They were both squared up ready to fight, can't penalize Odor more cause he was better at fighting than Jose.

Longest suspension for a fight is 10-games, but I compare this to the one given to the guy who charged Greinke on the mound and broke his collarbone. I'd assume it will 7-8 games for Rougned and then will be dropped a couple after appeal.

I also expect Bautista to be suspended for a game along with Donaldson and Pillar who also bumrushed Odor after the altercation (which they had every right to do and I would expect Ranger players to do the same if the roles were reversed). John Gibbons will also likely receive a suspension for coming back on the field after being ejected.

Sure you can. You penalize the final result. You have hindsight.

The Yahoo baseball dorks guessed between 8 and 15. Most think it will be 10.

I'd be shocked if after appeal it's double-digits. Especially since it doesn't look like Bautista is going to miss any time from the fight. The guy who got 8-games broke a player considered to be an ace's collarbone. I'd call that way more deserving. But who knows, especially with MLB taking a stance against violence in any way recently

Regardless, should be interesting if Profar gets called up because of a suspension. He hasn't played 2B at all in the minors this year, but who knows.

ETA: Whatever happens, I won't argue against the suspension, unless it's like 30-games. Yesterday was the most exciting day of baseball thus far this season.
