Yeah, must be why they are building a 40k plus stadium...

They're doing that because their current outdated stadium is off-campus and owned by the city or county. They can barely reach 95% at Hughes Field, which is 34K.

So, sure, they're really going to fill the new one.

Delaney was a moron then and he's a moron now.

Colorado State gets you dick-all in the Denver market.

they got their exposure this past year. if UH is good while a&m and UT arent, like this past year, then i dont think people have to worry about houston not caring

Here is the TV ratings in Houston last year. Houston averaged 33k attendance during a 12-1 season in a 2 year old stadium.

sure. people didnt start caring about houston until houston actually starting winning. the two games in the top 9 come from their final regular season game and the AAC championship and both were played at 11 in the morning. not to mention houston was getting 40k in the stadium by the end of the year

yes, when houston is doing poorly, they are barely a blip on the radar. but when they are winning, they get attention

UH had just fired its coach as well.

Not to mention UH isn't playing teams like Bama, LSU, Texas, etc. If it were, I'd imagine the ratings would get an even bigger bump.

i pretty much changed my opinion on houston over this past year. i think they have a decent chance at finding a spot somewhere even if it isnt the big 12

Their attendance would be much better w/a Big 12 schedule over an AAC schedule that often gets them stuck playing Thursday, Friday, or Saturday morning.

And that's a big assumption that the Big 12 will have to make. That Houston will continue to win. I'm sure it is in the back of AD's minds that Herman had one foot out the door last season and pulled out of the South Carolina job opening at the last minute.

Houston is undoubtedly in that 2nd tier of teams behind Cincy and BYU. But they have several factors working against them. Number 1, no new TV market. Number 2, two Texas teams will have to vote to admit them and give them a stronger foothold in the Houston recruiting scene. When they could vote for a team like Memphis or UCF which would give them a new recruiting ground to play in every couple years.

not really. they are in a second tier conference right now. of course they wont get the same amount of attention as UT or a&m or baylor where people will still talk about them when they are bad. the point is whether or not will people pay attention to them when they are good, and people do. getting houston into the big 12 would change all of this as they will have the year round coverage, you wont have to worry about herman leaving, and they will be on more equal footing when it comes to recruiting.

and i accept this, but if we are in a vacuum, houston is by far the best choice over the other realistic options in my opinion

The TV market issue is inescapable. The Big 12 needs to add them if they expand. Taking on any other Texas schools is counterproductive.

They already have Texas Christian, which is private and can kick your arse anyway.

I've actually read chatter that the Pac12 has had some exploratory talks w/them. The problem would be getting some of the more academically inclined (ie Cali) schools to accept them.

which is why they should move to kick Baylor out while they have the needed cover to accomplish it.

Stanford's reaction to the prospect of taking Houston:

But really, the did take Utah, which I don't believe is a bastion of academic prestige.
