Women’s lacrosse - but got to start somewhere.

D1 lacrosse in Texas will advance the sport exponentially here. Hoping SEC adds to Florida and Vandy programs. A&M already has designated fields for men’s and women’s lacrosse. Georgia and South Carolina could easily field a competitive D1 team just from the strength of the high school programs in those states.

Lacrosse is a fun sport to watch. Lot of action and has just the right amount of scoring. A little more than football a lot less than basketball.

I think SEC fans could get into men’s lacrosse.

This is a HUGE step for the sport.
As soon as the numbers of roster spots kove to the Big 12 = the SEC will have to act.

Once MLAX is green lit for the SEC = the sport will never be the same. The SEC will swallow up every top recruit within 4 seasons & own the championships.

Football and Title 9 will keep men's lacrosse from being introduced at most schools.

Not sure if OP knows this, but we would have every sport if we didn’t have to add an equal women’s sport. Title lX needs to remove football.

4 Big 10 teams
4 ACC teams
1 Big 12 team
No PAC 12 teams

I’d love for lacrosse to be a big time sport but with T9 and football having 85 scholarships, most schools can’t find a way to make it happen.

Holy crap, yes. The level of play at the youth and Junior levels in the USA is ridiculous.

NCAA Hockey could expand by 20 teams and you wouldn't see a drop off in play.

Nah, top academic institutions will continue to do well like they are today.

There is life after college lacrosse. Professional players make squat.

Admittedly, I don’t know much about the sport, but isn’t all the talent pretty much in the northeast? Aren’t the good schools like Maryland, Virginia, Boston College, UConn, Villanova, Syracuse, etc?

I’m already big into lacrosse. Been watching it since I was a kid. My uncle won state all 4 years in high school and walked on to Ohio state but he hated the cold so much that he couldn’t stick it out. His best buddy had a full scholarship and went on to play professionally.

Mid Atlantic - north east. Not sure I would consider Virginia or maryland to be the north east

I'm sorry but top lacrosse players from the Mid-Atlantic, New England prep schools, California, and Colorado are not going to Kentucky, Mississippi State, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, etc., etc.

Florida? Georgia? Vanderbilt? Could see these three being solid destinations - Georgia does put out a number of D1 players from the private schools, but you aren't going to evaporate Maryland, UVA, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, ND, Michigan, Penn State, Yale, Penn, UNC, etc.
