For what? This year? Career?

Russell Martin and Yunel Escobar do not belong on this list.

Escobar has one of highest averages in the league this year. Martin is producing as a catcher and hitting extremely well.

And I thought it was obvious by many of the names listed, this year

The answer is Miggy and the gap below him is enormous.

Under 30 Goldy, Harper, Stanton and Trout make an outstanding group.

But the answer is just Miggy.

A-Rod is so good at hitting that it's all they want him to do

Joey Votto. He's led the league in OBP his last four healthy seasons and has shown no signs of slowing down posting a .296/.402/.539 line so far this season.

Votto is a good choice, I forgot about him.

Also, Jose Baustista is having a terrific year at age 34. He has a whopping 52 walks this season with more walks than strikeouts and is on pace to hit over 35 HRs and drive in over 120 runs. His slash line would be scary if he could hit better for a better average.

Isn't his average in the low .250's though?

Past month he is Pujols of old, can't discount that. I don't think he keeps it up though.

Probably finishes .260/.320/.500 line better than his previous Angels season but again below what he has done. I would like to see him hit 35

Bautista has a .260 batting average. It doesn't matter though because he has a .401 SLG and .943 OPS. He's easily one of the most productive hitters in baseball and I would take the walks and power over an empty batting average any day.
