One of my closest friends and teammate was the top DL recruit in the country. This was before the star system but he would easily have been a 5 star. Heavily recruited by LSU, but his mom knew a lot of faculty members, and he didn't want her keeping tabs on him, so he signed with Ole Miss. Came down with Crohn's disease the summer before his freshman year, lost about 60 lbs and was never the same. Played some backup for a couple of years, but wasn't able to keep his weight up, and eventually left the team. Played with/against a lot of great ones, including some future NFLers, but he had as much or more potential as any.

No names, maybe somebody will recognize this guy, or maybe not. It was a very long time ago.

I saw him light up JC in the Dome, I know he wanted LSU and Saban liked him but it was when he already signed several backs.

I played against Jay Lucas too, absolute man child. He made me look foolish on a sweep. Acted like he was gonna run me over, I go low, he jukes to the left and I fall to the ground

Van Hiles was the QB for Episcopal in 91. Freaking torched my team. Went on to play DB for Kentucky. One of the best performances I've ever seen. Was embarrassing.

I played offense so I never had to try and tackle either one. I just stood there and yelled profanities at my defense for struggling to tackle them

Against Travis Minor, and he was a motherfricking beast Not a fun guy to try to tackle

In the 1996 5A semifinal game of WM vs BR Catholic, WM's defense gave up a total of 168 yards. Minor had 166 of those yards. He was a beast!

69 on one run. He took opening kickoff 95+. Other than those two plays he really didn't do anything. Final score WM 21-14

Personal favorite of mine, originally a quarterback I believe. With the Raiders he and Lyle Alzado hooked up in an epic fight in the training room that's still talked about.

You are right, he was a QB at 2nd Ward high School which I think is now East St.John. Yep, he ran over all of us..went to LSU to play running back.

You went to my high school for sure.

ETA: and had to play against Joe McKnight in high school. Carried the ball twice against us for about 130 yards. They could have beaten us by 150 points I bet. We sucked.

Our 6-4 defensive lineman was crying because nobody could tackle him.

He and LF are the only two RB's I've seen have their way playing against JC.

I was in my first semester at NLU and was slinging shoes at Finish Line. I remember Minor coming in and talking all kind of noise...glad WM put him out of the playoffs.

**side note, there was a fine arse girl working with me there, her name was Michelle Caldero, I believe, she ran track at Destrehan and claimed to have dated or known Warrick Dunn. I called bullshite, then she brought some pictures of her and Warrick at her house from Christmas. He was already at FSU then but she did take some mini helmets and be signed them for some friends of mine. :CSB:

Did he graduate in 1979?
