MLB: Vin Scully (see above)

tGOAT of all GOATs.

The guy has been calling Dodger games since they were back in Brooklyn playing at Ebbets Field. Just a fantastic voice.

Vin Scully is so good...he can tell a story about fishing for 5 minutes and I would listen with rapt attention...

Hell, he did that during most at-bats...most commentators would discuss the at-bat while the batter stepped out of the box...Scully would go on some story about the guy.

Scully is frankly an artist. We were lucky. He doesn't announce, he paints.

What an introduction as Gibson hobbles to the plate...

“And look who's coming up.

All year long, they looked to him to light the fire...and all year long, he answered the demand...

...until he was physically unable to start tonight with two bad legs, a left hamstring, and a swollen right knee.

And with two outs, you talk about a roll of the dice.

This is it!”

Set the stage perfectly for the most dramatic homerun ever.

Yeah I've been watching CBS sec reruns all summer and Danielson is constantly telling you what play is about to be run and is right. Seems like he could have gotten into coaching.

I think Danielson is technically sound, he's just a dick.

I know the golf dorks hate Johnny Miller, but other than mentioning Oakmont all the time, I think he is good for Joe Sixpack. On the flipside, Nantz just reeks of elitist douche. Dan Hicks is Nantz without the schmaltz.

What else can possibly be said about Doc Emrick? I watch CBC for Don Cherry and Ron MacLean, but even their announcers don't really compare.

I miss Ron Franklin with Mike Gottfried on college football.

I miss Walton and Snapper fighting about everything in NBA.

But he's not! This is my pet peeve. I know the South loves him because he's an SEC homer - but I'm starting to think you don't understand football...because the defense of him - he's so smart....sounds like a bunch of idiots watching him.

He's a dumbass. He comments on plays and the replays show he is constantly wrong...and instant replay, plays again and again and when he's proven wrong he still says - "well, I think I was right."

There were so many mistakes last year - not to mention the botched Bama/ATM game...where he was a disaster.

He gets things constantly wrong...but because he pom-poms for the SEC - this board loves him.

How about some objectivity for once? Critique him for his actually worth and not his fandom.

He's technically terrible. Bama is the best ever woo-hoo - LSU sucks - that's his commentary.

I'm ashamed I forgot about Jim Henderson. I still have him on while the game is on the TV, delay or not.

YES

Bill Worrell, Larry Dierker and of course the great Milo Hamilton. Grew up listening to these guys.

Ken Trahan and Ron Swoboda, GOAT minor league duo.
