The players tend to run the asylum in a lot of places because of the realities of contracts and the salary cap.

It's easier to replace coaches or a GM than players in a lot of cases, as horseshite as it is.

Hasn't the most important thing he's done over the past year, that has determined his employment status, been opting out of his contract in San Fransisco? He could still be on their roster right now if he didn't decide to leave on his own, right?

SF was going to cut him.

Nothing builds team chemistry better than a group calling for their team to sign a player based upon race/politics.

This will not end well. But then again most Cincinnati seasons end well no matter the circumstances.

Agreed, they will be a shite show no matter what. It's just a question of whether the rest of the team quits on Dalton and Lewis if no change is made.

The tipping point will probably be Cleveland in two weeks. If they can't beat the Browns then things will get uglier.

You think if he never took a knee or did any of the stuff he's done, he wouldn't have a job still?

He's not the only one who "protested" the anthem. The others that did it still have jobs.
He's not horrible but he's also not good enough that teams would be willing to bring him in with all the noise surrounding him. He's not worth the potential headache while just being a backup.

1. He's the face of the movement

2. He(and his girl) have done a bunch of other shite to garner negative press that others who have kneeled have not.

Correct. But he is clearly and without question 1 of the best 32 QBs.

2-14 record so he is a glorified Geno Smith

You don't win much when you have the worst defense in the league.

Shocking, I know.

ETA: I thought we were past judging a QB on his team's wins and losses. I guess not.

Doesn't matter. Most GMs aren't going to bring in a backup QB that's going to receive as much attention as their starting QB.

Also may I remind you the 49ers wanted to resign him but he didn't want to. It's his fault he's still not on their roster.

And Brees is not as good as Andy Dalton, got it.

It's literally all that matters to the previous discussion within the thread we were having.

Link?

This is false, they were going to cut him.

If there was ever a franchise that deserved Kap it's Cincy.

I give my blessing...

Not saying that. But posted to show your stat prediction was ridiculous. There are a few teams he could start for.

It doesn't matter because he's not worth the attention for just being a backup.

He opted out of his contract. They were going to cut him because they didn't want to pay him $14.5M because of that huge deal he signed in 2014. That doesn't mean they didn't want him back for cheaper. They had no QBs going into that year and he was familiar with that offense.

There's nothing that suggested they were going to resign him, nothing that I could find.

Any links? That's a different statement now from your first post saying SF was going to resign him. Now you're saying that doesn't mean they didn't want him for cheaper, but how do you know that?

In fact, these are quotes from John Lynch which make it very clear they were not interested in keeping him around. There was no talk of offering a restructured deal, it was opt out or be released, and not resigned because they preferred Hoyer, and Kaep didn't fit as a backup for them.

LINK

quote:

"Brian Hoyer was one of the guys we pursued. Once we pursued him, we didn't see Kap as a backup that would really fit in that scheme and we communicated that to him. So I think we've been very up front with it. But I think that is a fair characterization. Yes, he was not going to be here under the construct of his contract. We gave him the option: 'You can opt out, we can release you, whatever.' And he chose to opt out, but that was just a formality."
