Go to your local chain link fence provider (not Lowes or HD) tell them what Ya doin. they'll lay it out and sell you all the post, crossmembers, connectors and hardware. Easy and mines been up for about 8 years.
Buy a heavier weight net for long term durability. I think mine is #42 HDPE. still looks great after 8 yrs!
My net is 55' long but I shortened the post Fran and only have about 38' cage. I sit behind an L screen about 25' from my son and can flip underhand front toss to really work specific location or toss overhand over the L.

Nice. Where did you get the net? I think I'm going to make mine 70' long so they can use it thru high school if so inclined. I've got a Juggs machine, need to an L

Built one about 15 years ago. We used 2inch pipe you like plan (Had 4 U Sections about 20' wide). We built it 75 feet long and poured slabs where the pitcher and hitter would be and covered them with some old Astroturf I got when we redid some turf at Tulane. I hung a 1/2 rubber mat on the back end to save the netting from a beating. I had ordered the net and had it dipped at a trawl net place down the bayou. don't skimp on the strength of the net, get the heaviest duty you can within budget.
We had the juggs machine but also threw live BP in the cage. Get a strong L screen, they take a beating.
Also built a college sized mound in the yard for the kid to throw from. Lots of clay and bricks to do that.

i like rubber coated chain link over net. Always had problems with nets. Sagging, ripping, etc

Chain link destroys balls real fast.
Oh and to the original poster, you might want to put slightly larger pipe in the ground as sleeves and slip the actual frame poles in them. We did this so we could take it down easily when a hurricane was headed this way. Worked well.

bought my net off eBay. Came with everything to hang it.
as for building a mound, I have one I built with treated lumber and artificial turf. it's long enough even now at 15 my son can throw on it. No maintenance like clay mounds. Very easy to build, think is was four 2x4x8's, one sheet of 3/4" treated plywood and bought the turf from Lowes. It's 8 yrs old and turf still in good shape. It's not a portable because of weight but I put and eye bolt on back of it so I can drag it away when not in use.

Buy your net online from a company that specializes in that. They cost a little more but last a lone time. Also put chain at the bottommof the net so balls cant get out of the bottom.
