I notice that the hate towards Bonds is EXTREMELY magnified compared to the hate a guy like McGwire received.

...I know what you are getting at, but honestly I think it more has to do with the fact Bonds holds the HR records. There is still a lot of faux outrage over that. Combine that with the fact Bonds always had a tenuous relationship with the media who will then force-feed your typical fan their opinions and tell them what to think and you get BB's public perception.

Again they went to a World Series and won the West 4 times from 97-2003.

I guess you forgot those?

That's fine. They could have done that without Bonds being roided up right????

Probably not since he was the best hitter in the game and was hitting Homers in Pac-Bell that nobody else was.

Barry Bonds was the best hitter in the last half century. The things he did at the plate with his discipline will not be seen for a long long time.

Bonds was/is well-reputed as one of the most miserable jackasses on the entire planet, going all the way back to his days at Az St. I read an SI story years ago that said his college teammates actually voted not to let him back on the team following some incident (the coach, of course, vetoed the vote). That's how bad he sucks at life.

He juiced because he was resentful of all the attention that guys like McGwire & Sosa were getting. The real tragedy is that he probably could have still surpassed Hank had he not juiced. He was more than capable of hitting 40-45 HRs a season naturally, and the roids most likely compromised his longevity.

IF he put those #'s up without using I would agree he was the GOAT and it wouldn't be close......... BUT...............

Your morality police schtick on people caring too much about is a pointless quest. How is rooting for some players and not liking others taking sports too seriously?

Shell is a strange one, we all see how much he defends his boy Lebron( is that taking sports too seriously?) but he says he doesn't even root for him.

The steroids did not improve his power or his hitting ability. It helps with recovery.

But he did go 50-50, so if you think that did not help his team. I do not know what to tell you.

He played until he was 42 and hit 258 HRs between the ages of 35-39. It didn't hurt his longevity.

Eh, he hobbled around pretty bad those last 3 years. Would have preferred to see him maintain his natural physique and go out with some dignity. He probably would have broken Hank's record without the juice.

have you seen some of the things people say about athletes just here on the MSB? If that's not taking sports too seriously, I'm not sure what else to tell you, if you can't see something that obvious.

no one ever changes anyone's mind, so I guess every debate ever On MSB is a pointless quest, so I'm not sure where you're going with that statement.

my initial post on people caring too much got 17 up votes and 2 down votes. Not that that is the end all, but I'm not sure how it's strange when most seem to agree with me.

I don't know what one has to do with the other. Since when for looking and debating sports equal taking it too seriously? There's a huge difference between that and some of these outright hatred we see posted here probably daily towards players and towards other posters. I don't partake in any of that.

Also, have you ever seen me root for Lebron? My only rooting interest is the Pels, and secondarily Chris Paul. But lebron gets about a million times more threads so it's pretty logical to post more about lebron, but no one ever calls me out for knighting for Paul, which I do probably more in a more biased way than for lebron.
