defense packed in as much as possible...allow no half court pick and roll alley oops or anything close to the basket outside and accidental offensive rebound.....allow them to shoot the ball from the outside as much as possible and pray they are cold....seems the only real hope. Illinois allowed way too many pick and roll dunks. id rather them shoot 3s all game and if they hit them oh well.

I think Alabama needs to play their pace and shoot well to pull the upset.

IF they can get UConn to shoot early in shot clock, maybe they can have a 50% night from three point line.

Alabama has been better on defense lately, but their offense gives them a chance. Foul trouble with the bigs could be an issue for Alabama.

UConn may not double Sears on dribble penetration as much as other teams have. Sears is great at kicking it to an open man for 3.

I think their best chance is to play their game. If they can stay in touch, Bama is a good enough free throw shooting team to win a close game down the stretch.

BAMA needs to keep running shooting and most of all hitting those 3s. Timely stops coming down the stretch for good measure.

Best hope for Bama is to play their game on both ends and hope they just outplay UCONN.

Alabama has to get scalding hot from 3 and make at least 15 of them

UCONN is so tricky, you think you’re playing them well and then next thing you know in the span of 2-3 minutes they go on a 10-0 run.

With the way Alabama plays offensively they always have a chance. And that chance is hitting 3's and speeding up UConn who prefers to play at a much slower tempo. The problem is UConn is a great defensive team too.

Best case reasonable scenario: Alabama makes 10+ three's and keeps in contact the entire game like they did vs. Clemson and UNC to allow a playmaker (and they have several options) to get hot at the end to close it out.

Worst case scenario, the 3's aren't falling, UConn's defense keeps the rim contested, and it turns into a blowout like the Tennessee, Auburn and Florida games

That’s the problem, UCONN’s size doesn’t require the normal over helping on drives so those open kick outs aren’t there very often. They’re a throwback and they force you to do the inverse of what you normally do on both ends.

Illinois was actually doing OK in the first half and missed a lot of easy shots. But, they just kept going at Clingan and getting swatted.

Hope Clingan gets in foul trouble and shoot a high percentage from 3. That gets our foot in the door. Our defense is fine at times but falls apart when things go wrong. Hurley could pick us apart

And the worst version of this Bama squad is when nobody hits 3s and Sears has to drive in and carry the team

Getting Wrightsell back is huge because the odds of Sears, Griffen, and Wrightsell being cold are pretty small. However, the double edged sword is that we experimented with a 4 guard lineup with Wrightsell in conference play and our defense got worse. I hope we use him off the bench as a guy who doesn’t turn it over and is a great shooter

Bama should hoist at least 30 3s and pray.

They’re just so tough and so precise in what they do. They’re not the most wide open but they’re so much fun to watch.

Illinois also looked very lazy and unsound on defense. If we play D like we have the last 3 games then it won't be as easy for Uconn on offense(which isn't really saying all that much.)

The only way for Bama wins this game is for them to hit
50% or more of their 3s.If not they will get blown out.
