re: Baker Mayfield wants reassurance that things will change, or he'll ask for a trade

That’s a hilarious amount of low self awareness if that’s true
Exactly. This is hilarious. This made everything about who Baker is and the shite he’s done and we’ve heard about him all make sense. Damn this is funny.

I believe this is Cleveland/Stefanski leaking this. Try to get ahead of this and paint him as the scapegoat

another one of Mary Kay's shitty pieces that does nothing but assume
Likely this, based on Baker's response.
Two days ago on Cleveland radio, Mary Kay said there seemed to be a disconnect between Baker and Stefanski, but there wasn't necessarily animosity. She must've said a dozen times that she didn't know any details.
Now two days later, there's definite separation between them, and Baker wants out? Smells like bullshite.

Can’t he call an audible anytime he sees fit??

Mayfield isn't really wrong. Play to your QB's strength or move on from them. Arrogance had killed many coaching careers.

If he would of sat his sorry busted arse down this yr i think the browns might be in the playoffs. He cost his team that chance cuz he didn't want Keenum to play.
Anytime they win it's with a strong running game and he has like 25 pass attempts.

There’s a lot going on here and if we ever find out what happened behind the scenes this season it won’t be until after the Cincy game. It’s looking like maybe Stefanski was ordered from higher up to keep playing Baker. I have no proof of this it’s just a hunch, but it would explain the pressers where Stefanski continually gave non-answers about why a banged up and ineffective Mayfield was still playing. I was a Baker apologist until the Baltimore game. Playing him after that was just inexcusable IMO. Stefanski sounded like a coach forced to play a qb but obviously not able to admit that that was the case.
As for Baker the drama and ego are getting old. We get that you’re tough and played hurt. If you’re playing like crap then it doesn’t matter.

If this is true (and it very well could be), then Stefanski deserves more heat for some of his playcalling toward the end of the season. He would abandon the running game almost every time it appeared to get rolling.
3rd and short? Goes 5-wide with an empty backfield. Chubb averaging 6 yds per carry? Throws it three straight downs in plus territory. If you're being forced to play a banged-up, ineffective Mayfield, then why aren't you leaning on the running game?
Even on Monday when it didn't matter anymore, Stefanski explained away Chubb's lack of carries against the worst rush defense in the league due to sore ribs. So, you keep dropping back your legitimately injured QB to get destroyed by Watt?

Agree on everything. The offense has been beyond frustrating. Obviously something has to change going into next year.

I’m buying low on Baker here. Dude has a crazy arm and he has Burrow esque confidence/competitiveness.

This is the epitome of the whole Browns/Baker relationship

Baker sucks. There’s a reason they lean on the run game.

The change is he is getting traded

I'm not sure about Baker. All I know is every time I watched the Browns the dude was getting killed back there. Hard to be a good QB when your line gives you no time and you are always on your back. I mean, yeah, he didn't play well against Pittsburgh. Tell me a QB who would while getting sacked 9 times and hurried and hit even more. Rodgers and Brady would suck in that situation.
Baker might not be good but he sure didn't get much help from Stefanski or his OL either.
