With Michigan hiring Harbaugh and James Franklin steering Penn St in the right direction, heck even Rutgers stomped North Carolina in their bowl game and we will see what Maryland can do today against Stanford. With the resources at Ohio St, Penn St, Michigan St and Michigan, i think its a good bet that the B1G East is going to become very very good. I think you could make the argument that the B1G East could be up there with the SEC West in the very near future. Can the B1G East become elite?

I don't think B1G Presidents have the stomach for it.

Twerps, Rutgers and Indiana are shite though the first two are capable of having decent years. Penn St might compete every now and then. OSU, MSU and UM (if Harbaugh does turn them around) would make for a very good top of the division. Wouldn't be as good as the SEC West but good enough for the #2 division in CFB.

Mich St just lost their D coordinator - look for a decline.

Penn State will be better but Franklin is fraud.

Rutgers will continue to be poverty with their 2 and 3 star recruits (dont be naive)

Maryland (not sheriff srs); that #52 ranked recruiting class surely will leave teams shaking in their cleats.

So itll be Ohio State and Michigan just like its always been (shocker)

Not sold Harbaugh is going to be at UM for more than a couple years, and I think Meyer only has a couple more years in Columbus also.

Huge if.... I will say that it will take a few years for the B1G to regain the caliber of play but the good thing is that with Michigan back, it will knock down the pecking order of bowls so things are a bit more level in play. This is one of the reasons I think the B1G has been doing bad in bowl games...

One thing to note, the three marquee coaches in the Big Ten -- Harbaugh, Meyer and Dantonio -- all have a history of heart issues (allegedly for Meyer). People are kidding themselves if they think all 3 will still be in the BIG in 5 years.
