Coaching is a major issue. Just look at Snyder at Kansas State. Zero 4 or 5 star recruits the last two years. I saw a stat during a game that they has 20 walk-one and 12 JUCO's in their 2 deep!

Snyder might be the best pure coach in all of football over the course of the last quarter century. What he's been able to do at a historically awful program like KSU with walk-ons, JUCO transfers and 2 and 3 star recruits is unprecedented.

His teams are some of the most disciplined, fundamentally sound, and well-coached at every position. They never beat themselves with stupid penalties, poor decisions or bad playcalling.

How? These blanket statements prove nothing without evidence. The B1G coaches are desired at many, many places. ND tried to get Ferentz for years, why do you think he is paid so high? Meyer could pick his job. Same with Dantonio. Pelini is also desired, Franklin just the same. Fitz will be able to get another P5 coaching job (there is just no talent at NW - what he did with those 2-3 stars is amazing).

Michigan is the one school who is underachieving, so an upgrade there is needed.

Snyder is an outlier and its whole another ballgame at Kstate. In the B1G youre not going to able to bring in JUCOs who can barely speak english

Coaching is an excuse. There is just not enough talent in the midwest.

LINK

Read the link...that is just plain false, if you take out Florida, B1G states have more players in the NFL then the SECs states. BIG = 388 to SEC = 377. This notion that there isnt any talent in the Midwest is laughable. Coaching in the B1G stinks right now plain and simple.

Most overrated coach in college football...not just the B1G. What has he done to deserve his pay? Right now Meyer, Dantonio and Pelini are the only coaches that are quality coaches. The jury is still out on guys like Franklin, Anderson at Wisconsin and PSU respectively. Schiano and Harbaugh would be an upgrade big time in this conference.

- Illinois can win two of their next three and be eligible for a bowl game. If Beckman can somehow get them there without his starting quarterback, I think he is safe for another season.

- Kevin Wilson needs to be done at Indiana. He has shown he can put together a good offense, but the defense has not improved. That unit is continually the worst in the conference and one of the worst nationally.

- Brady Hoke, without Dave Brandon, is a dead man walking.

- No doubt Kyle Flood is starting to feel the pressure mounting. He will have to finish strong, but that seems dim after getting steamrolled by the only teams in the conference with a pulse.

- Pat Fitzgerald is an interesting situation. He's loved at Northwestern and it's his alma mater, but they have never taken that next step. It's difficult to do at a place like Northwestern, but at what point does the school go in another direction? Seems very weird to think about.

- Darrell Hazell is on the hot seat, no doubt, but has Purdue headed in the right direction. They won just one game last season and didn't win a game in the B1G. They were dead last in offense. They are now eighth in total offense and have three wins on the season.

Purdue firing Hazell would be a head scratcher. Not sure you can expect more in year 2 considering the talent that was there when he joined.

Yeah, judging by what the local radio game guys say, people are pretty happy with what he's doing so far, and realize it won't show up on the field for a while. My guess is he's got a free pass for next year, barring a complete implosion, and people will start getting antsy about game-day progress the year after that.

Those arent made up numbers. Those are factual numbers. My point was that its not like B1G states arent producting talent. I'm sorry if those numbers dont fit the narrative around here. Ohio, Pennsylvania, NJ, Illinois, Maryland and Michigan are even or ahead of SEC states....FACT! Coaching in the B1G needs to get better.

Ive never heard any one speak highly of him. For the most part people agree that he is a 9-10 win coach that might win the B1G when everything goes his way. He is pretty much Nebraskas Mark Richt.

Jerry Kill would be fantastic at a school where he could bring in more talent. Who the frick wants to play outside in Minnesota given the opportunity elsewhere?

Never realized Nebraska fans hated him. Ive always considered them to be one of the more patient and nicer fanbases when it comes to how they treat their coaches.

He's a hit head, it goes against their image.

And his defenses have been lack luster.
