My first driver was a hand-me-down from my FIL. One day at the range it flew off in the downswing and hit the top of a fence by the parking lot. I almost had a heart attack when I felt that and looked back thinking it was gonna smash a windshield.

Most lower spinning shafts are heavier which defeats the purpose of the rbz. Just get a lower spinning driver like I20 or rbz tp.

is it hard to put the RBZ tip on a shaft?

This is very easy. When heating/removing the rbz tip the only thing that cant be used again is the ferrel cap. It is plastic and will melt. These can be purchased for $4 at golfworks.com. Once you have pulled tip off clean out and rough up the inside of the tip and prep the tip of the shaft with a light sanding belt or paper. Then epoxy and go!

A couple inexpensive shaft suggestions would be - all one time pulls to keep cost down
Project X blue low launch/low spin
UST proto green low-mid launch/low spin
diamana whiteboard low-mid/low spin
fubuki alpha low-mid/low-mid

Thanks man. Appreciate the help.

While I have y'all in this thread, anyone have some good drills to help promote a whipping effect through contact? I tend to stay too tight and let my hands drag through the zone some times. I've read in a golf magazine that one drill to help get that whipping action is to set a ball on the ground and get in your stance as you would be taking a swing, then hold a ball in your right hand and simulate a swing and try to throw the ball in your hand and hit the one on the ground. I tried it, but it's a bit awkward to me, so I was looking for some other drills.

Whipping effect?

Large circle arc on take away much smaller circle arc on down swing. That will create lag which turns to whip.

Keep wrist angle through downswing, and let it naturally unhinge. Amateurs have a tendency to throw the club at the ball, which causes an early loss in impact angle. Aim to hit the ball with the butt of the club.

That's definitely a big thing for me. When I miss hit, it's always off the toe. I've started taking my stance with the ball near the heel on my irons and wedges and its helped a lot. I need to try it with my driver.

whipping effect?

Releasing the wrists?...I'm not good at translating what I want to do or need to do in to words all the time, but the "whipping" is what they said in the article I read. They compared it to cracking a whip, saying that the cracking sound comes at the very last second when the tip releases at a much higher speed than the rest of the whip.

Does that make any more sense?
